Samantha “BossLady”, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
9o minutes of my day is returning phone calls, attending conference calls, answering emails, etc.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Samantha “BossLady” Davis-Croft is a dynamic force of creativity, resilience, and vision—a serial entrepreneur, certified master life and business coach, six-time author, actress, nurse, philanthropist, radio personality, and acclaimed Soul/R&B recording artist and composer.
A native of Shelby, Mississippi, and daughter of the late Blues legend Willie Lee “Rip” Butler, BossLady’s musical roots run deep. She grew up singing in her hometown church choir and performing alongside her father, who inspired her lifelong love for music. That passion eventually birthed her own sound and mission.
Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, BossLady is the co-founder of Elite Sound Recordings LLC and Sipp Starz Radio, created to carry on her father’s legacy while providing a platform for new voices in Soul, R&B, and Blues. She has managed multiple artists—including her daughters—and continues mentoring new talent in the industry through her 18+ years of experience.
Her singles, including “Come On With It” and “BossLady Anthem,” have become fan favorites, adding to her catalog of 14 original tracks. Since their debut in 2023, she’s been touring across the country on her Soul & Lovers Tour platform.
BossLady is also the founder and CEO of Women of Entrepreneurship LLC (W.O.E.), an empowerment network and business community created to support women of all backgrounds on their journeys to becoming successful entrepreneurs. W.O.E. blends coaching, mentorship, and community-building, and has impacted women globally through books, events, and resources.
Her accolades include being named Promoter of the Year, Radio Personality of the Year, Nominated Artist of the Year, and Manager of the Year, affirming her multidimensional impact across industries.
She is also the founder of Extended Hands for Building Better Communities, a nonprofit organization serving underserved communities across the globe, and the visionary behind the Mississippi Music, Film & Entrepreneur Association LLC, set to host its inaugural celebration in June 2026.
BossLady’s mission is to make timeless music, preserve Mississippi’s cultural legacy, and inspire the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God saw me before I could see myself. He provided me with my purpose and calling on this Earth.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I am proud to have been a leader of many organizations in school at a young age. It positioned me to be a person of good multitasking, a powerful leader, and CEO of my businesses I have today.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, it is the real me. I like the show all sides of me from all of my professions and careers. I love to just be me and very authentic.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I am very determined about my legacy being that its a continuation of my father’s legacy along with building my own legacy and empire. I am very loyal and dedicated to my craft and I believe in it.
