We recently had the chance to connect with Sarah Jennings and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Something I feel deeply called to do is create something far greater than just a clothing brand. While many may see me simply as a designer creating clothes, my vision goes much deeper than fashion. I’m building an agency and a movement centered on empowering women to overcome fear and step boldly into their purpose. Through my own journey, I’ve learned that true empowerment begins with example. As I continue to share my story and walk in faith, I want to create spaces and programs that inspire other women to share their own stories reminding them that God has already equipped them with the gifts, talents, and strength they need to move forward in their calling. At first, I was hesitant to step into that role and be the example, but I’ve come to understand that there are many women connected to my “yes.” That realization has given me the courage to move forward and build not just a fashion brand, and not just an agency but a lasting legacy that will impact and uplift women around the world
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Sarah Jennings, a fashion designer and the founder of InceptualSara, a clothing brand dedicated to helping women embrace elegance and confidence. I believe that style isn’t just about what you wear, it’s about how you wear it and the story you tell through it.
In addition to designing, I host a podcast called Signed by Lipstick, where I openly share my personal journey and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Lastly I’m the creator and initiator of Signed by Momentum, a community that empowers women to step boldly and fearlessly into their dreams and goals, aligning with God in their purpose. Pretty much everything I do is rooted in a passion for inspiring women to embrace their purpose, walk in confidence, and live beautifully inside and out.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest moment of feeling truly powerful was the moment I decided that I wanted to become a designer. At that time, I didn’t know how to cut fabric, I didn’t understand materials, and I knew nothing about the technical side of fashion. But what I did know was the vision that God had placed inside of me and I was determined to bring it to life. I made a commitment to learn everything I needed to know, even if it meant working ten times harder or studying longer than anyone else. I understood that this vision was not just an idea, it was a calling. Over time, I realized that you are only as big as your thoughts. If you believe you can’t do something, you’ve already limited yourself. But if you believe that you can, if you trust that you are equipped and guided by God, then anything is possible. That’s when I understood what true power meant not power from skill or status, but power from connection. I felt powerful because I knew who I was, and more importantly, whose I was.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time about two years ago when I almost gave up. I was going through a major transition in my life, and even though I believed I had aligned my dreams and goals with God, I realized that I was still holding onto my own plan my own idea of how things should unfold. Eventually, I came to understand that my plan had to die so that His could live. But before that realization, I reached a breaking point. I remember going to God and saying, “If this is not what You want me to do, I’ll let it go. Just show me what You want for me lead me, guide me, and I will follow.” I was ready to walk away if that was His will. But I also prayed, “If this is what You’ve called me to do, then empower me, provide for me, and give me the strength to fulfill the vision You’ve placed in my heart because I no longer have a plan of my own.” That was the moment I learned true surrender. I had to release my own idea of what my calling should look like and step fully into God’s plan for my life trusting Him with my gifts, my talents, and my purpose.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
That’s simple God’s ideas. I always say I am just a vessel just doing the works that he has asked me to do. He has the ultimate idea and plan for my life. It is what I believe and it is how I operate. Not just in my business, but in my personal life as well
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel a deep sense of peace when I share my story and see another woman look at me and say, “I’ve been there too.” There’s something powerful about those moments when a woman can see herself in my journey, feel understood, and be inspired to keep going. That connection reminds me why I do what I do. I also find peace in stillness those intentional moments when I recognize that I’m overwhelmed or stretched thin and remind myself, “Sarah, you need a break.” Honoring that truth and giving myself permission to rest is an act of self-respect. It allows me to recharge and return to my work with clarity and purpose. What I do can be heavy at times. It requires a lot of planning, creativity, and emotional energy. But I’ve learned that I can handle it as long as I give myself space to breathe, to pause, and to find peace in the process.
