Story & Lesson Highlights with Scandalous Diamonds

Scandalous Diamonds shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Scandalous , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Some may think that we just talk about raunchy sex novels, but actually our focus is on female empowerment, comedy, Jackie Collins and everything she stood for.

Scandalous Diamonds is more than just a book club for romance novels. There are so many facets to what we talk and laugh about.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
The Scandalous Diamonds Podcast is where co-hosts Jennifer Lusk and Dana Compton recap the New York Times’ Best-Selling novels by the one and only Jackie Collins.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
When we received permission from Jackie Collins’ daughters to proceed with Scandalous Diamonds! We knew we had a great message we could deliver through their mother’s writing and memory.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep going and Girls Can Do Anything!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
YES! What you hear is what you get. Scandalous Diamonds is not scripted. The only part that is planned is Jen’s recap of the book that is featured each season. Dana’s reactions are improvised since she has not read the book before Jen tells about it.

The stories we tell and the adventures we have are off the cuff and authentic. Our fans truly get to know the real us!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Taking life too seriously. That’s why we believe in the power of comedy!
