Shareeda Bennett shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Shareeda, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
I bring a high level of responsibility, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in everything I do. I’m solution-oriented, reliable under pressure, and I take initiative without waiting to be told. I communicate clearly, I care about results, and I never stop looking for ways to improve — myself and the systems I’m part of.
At the same time, I’m self-aware enough to recognize my blind spots and take accountability when I fall short. That mindset means I’m always learning, always evolving — which is exactly what I’d want in someone I hired.
If I weren’t to hire me, it would only be because the role didn’t align with my strengths or values — and in that case, I wouldn’t apply in the first place
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Shareeda, and I’m a professional makeup artist and licensed esthetician with a deep passion for enhancing natural beauty and helping people feel confident in their skin. My work blends artistry and skincare — from flawless glam looks to customized facials and skincare treatments that truly transform.
What makes my brand unique is the personalized experience I provide. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all beauty — I take the time to understand each client’s individual needs, skin type, and personal style. Whether it’s for a special occasion, a photoshoot, or just because, my goal is always to make my clients feel seen, radiant, and empowered.
Right now, I’m working on expanding my services and diving deeper into education — sharing tips, tutorials, and skincare advice to help others take control of their beauty journey. This is more than a business to me — it’s a way to uplift, inspire, and celebrate beauty in all its forms.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
It was when I moved to New York City in my twenties to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. Everyone knows FIT is right in the heart of Manhattan — and for someone coming from a suburban city, that alone can be intimidating. I had to figure out how to ride the subway, navigate a whole new lifestyle, juggle classes, a full-time job, and an internship all at once.
It was chaos, it was nonstop — and it was the moment I realized just how powerful I really was.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would look her in the eyes and say:
You are resilient.
There will be moments that feel impossible. Times when you question everything — your path, your pace, your power. But trust me when I say, you are built for this. Strength is one of many of your superpowers.
You’re going to face things that try to shake your confidence, but you’ll learn to stand taller. You’ll move through rooms you once felt too small for. You’ll rise — over and over again.
So give yourself grace. Stay grounded. And never forget who you are.
You are more powerful than you know.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that what you know was the key to success — that knowledge, skills, and hard work alone would open every door.
But over time, I’ve learned that who you know often plays a bigger role. Connections, relationships, and being in the right rooms with the right people can accelerate your growth in ways pure knowledge can’t.
That doesn’t mean what you know isn’t important — but in today’s world, networking and relationship-building are often the difference between standing still and rising fast.
It was a humbling lesson, but an empowering one too.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What light inside you have you been dimming?
Honestly… my voice.
Public speaking has always been a challenge for me. I have so much knowledge, experience, and value I want to share — especially on social media — but the thought of speaking in front of so many people makes me hesitate.
It’s strange because in-person? I’m confident. I connect easily. But something about the idea of speaking to billions through a screen makes me second-guess myself. So I stay quiet more than I should.
But I’m learning not to dim that light. My voice matters. My perspective is valid. And the fear doesn’t get to lead anymore.
