Sharon Lane shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Sharon, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Oh, this is a great question. Of the 3 choices, integrity IS most important to me. What I say and what I do must line up and it’s important that I am consistent and maintain trustworthiness even when no one is watching. Operating with integrity speaks volumes.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Great day to you! I am honored to be asked to participate in this interview.
I am Sharon Lane, your Self-care Strategist, Trusted Advisor and Author. I am the creator of Sharon Renee Writes where my words have power and I want others to realize that their words have power too.
I am dedicated to helping women, women entrepreneurs and organizations to prioritize and value the importance of practicing self-care daily which is necessary for our well-being. I want women to think beyond the “traditional” visits to the hair salon.
My journey of practicing self-care daily started when Covid-19 paralyzed our world in 2020, while working in the hospital. Our towns, cities, states and country was hit with the coronavirus which caused uncertainty and unrest. I know my purpose is to serve others by providing strategies and practices for a healthier blueprint.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a child/young person, I was severely bullied verbally and physically. Reading and writing were my absolute favorite parts of my schooling. I loved school so much that I would raise my hand because I knew the answers. I was bullied for knowing and saying the answers. So, as a young person, I believed that my silence was “golden”.
As I’ve matured, I am confident when I speak because I speak with purpose on purpose. One of my affirmations is “Meekness is not a sign of weakness but that of strength.”
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that held me back the most in my life was the fear of not finding and utilizing my voice. I’ve learned that in my reservedness, I speak volumes with purpose and I change the atmosphere in the rooms I enter.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I believe that intellect will get many in the room but intellect alone will not keep one in the room or get one invited to the next meeting/gathering/session.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop wasting time. Time wasted can never be recouped once it’s gone.
