We’re looking forward to introducing you to Teresa Fernandez. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Teresa, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day kicks off around 5:45 or 6 a.m. I roll out of bed, get dressed, and start the coffee while packing the kids’ lunches. With that first aroma of coffee in the air, I dive into emails—sorting out spam, organizing messages for a client, and answering anything urgent that came in overnight. Once I’ve had a sip or two of coffee, it’s time to wake the kids, get them ready, and drive them to school. After the school run, I finally carve out a moment for myself—my morning workout and a little journaling, setting the tone for the day ahead.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Teresa Fernandez, founder of SCW Consulting. After 15+ years running a successful luxury event brand, I realized that behind every thriving creative business is a need for seamless support—and that talented entrepreneurs often spend more time managing logistics than doing what they love.
As a Type-A, detail-obsessed Virgo, I thrive on organization, efficiency, and calm under pressure. Perfectionism might be my pitfall, but it’s also my superpower—every project I touch reflects precision and intentionality.
SCW Consulting exists to give creative professionals and business owners clarity, calm, and systems that truly work. My mission is simple: help you stay in your zone of genius while I handle the details—so you can focus on what you do best.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a smart bookworm with a small, close-knit group of friends—a natural leader, mature beyond my years, a nurturer at heart, and a sweet old soul.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Like everyone, I’ve faced my share of trials and triumphs. In my personal life, I confronted a cancer diagnosis in the first trimester of my pregnancy, and less than two years later, an MS diagnosis. Professionally, I battled feelings of not being enough. I built my small business from the ground up—offloading U-Hauls, hanging string lights, setting tables, catering to every need—before I reminded myself, I can do more. I can be bigger.
That mindset shifted everything. Doors opened: I was invited onto luxury hotel preferred vendor lists, featured in print media, received multiple awards, and even hosted professional events for major wedding industry brands. Through it all, I’ve carried a simple but powerful reminder—my one tattoo, in Italian: “Non mollare mai”—never give up. Suffering taught me resilience, grit, and perseverance in a way success alone never could.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire Mother Teresa and Princess Diana—not for their power or status, but for the quiet, unwavering strength of their character. Mother Teresa showed that true power lies in compassion and humility, dedicating her life to serving the most vulnerable and inspiring change through steadfast love. Princess Diana, with her empathy and courage, brought attention to causes often ignored, connecting with people on a deeply human level. Both women demonstrated that character—not influence or authority—is the truest form of power. Their lives remind me that integrity, kindness, and selflessness, even in the face of immense challenges, leave a lasting mark on the world. Quiet conviction, compassion, and courage can move hearts and transform lives far more than fame or control ever could.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
Without my name, title, or possessions, what would remain is the essence of who I am: a peaceful soul, carrying a quiet confidence, and a steadfast strength that bends but never breaks—a resilience that meets every challenge with grace and an unwavering determination to rise, no matter what life throws my way.
