Toni Junious-Quick shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Toni, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I’ve was just recently accepted and started Law School this fall, and I’m so proud of that because I always wanted to go to Law School, but was hesitant to apply.
I felt that I might be overwhelmed by the amount of reading, studying, and time that law students must invest into their studies (especially as an entrepreneur of a startup as well), and also that I may have difficulty in understanding all the complexities that come along with learning and understand legal systems. Especially the American Legal System!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! I am Antoinette “Toni” (preferred) Junious-Quick, MSA currently in Las Vegas, NV by way of Washington D.C, and I’m the Founder/CEO of “ToneTaneMent Productions LLC.” I’m currently on a journey to becoming a “Serial Entrepreneur”, African-American Female “Tril-Lanthropist”(Trillionaire+ Philanthropist = Tril-Lanthropist lol…just a little term she coined!), to do her part in turning this world around, via entertainment, mentoring, providing access, opportunities, and eventually capital to underrepresented and Marginalized groups.
My business “ToneTaneMent Productions LLC” (Parent Company) is a Multi-Media Content Production (Film, TV, Music & More!)/Talent Management/Product & Fashion Brand (“ToneTaneMent Presents” skincare, cosmetics & more) Enterprise founded by me (Toni Junious-Quick, MSA) in December 2021. It is the parent company to a plethora of other Businesses & Brands that will launch under the “ToneTaneMent Productions LLC” umbrella of brands.
“ToneTaneMent Productions LLC” is being founded on the premise to create access, opportunities, and eventually capital to pursue careers in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment industries to people of color (underrepresented, marginalized groups of people and communities) who aspire to pursue careers in these industries with limited access and opportunities.
My grand vision for “ToneTaneMent Productions LLC” is rooted in our Mission Statement which is: “ToneTaneMent Productions LLC is a Multi-Media Content Production (Film, TV, Music, and More!)/Talent Management company founded on the thought that Entertainment in its different forms, and when executed with good intentions can change the world for the betterment of all its Global Inhabitants now and all future generations that will follow. We all want to be Entertained. ENTERTAINMENT IS LIFE!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed when I was a child (and even into mid adulthood) that I wasn’t good enough for certain things or would/could accomplish certain things in life.
What I mean by this is that because I was from and raised in the low-income part of the city were I lived when I was young that I shouldn’t even aspire to reach for and accomplish certain things because in my community those things weren’t obtainable and nobody had ever reached for an accomplish them.
For example, I wanted to be a Model and a Ballerina growing up, but there was no representation
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
My life story thus far have been defining wounds of my life.
On October 31, 1994 (Halloween) when I was 16 years old I was caught up in a drive by shooting in my neighborhood. The bullet went through my right arm, traveling through my lungs (which caused them to collapse), and then stopping short of hitting my spinal cord. The bullet is still in my back, as the doctor explained to my mother it would be too risky of a procedure to try to remove it during surgery, so it now rest about an inch or two from my spinal cord, This event of course was devastating and extremely stressful on my mother, and family, so before I was discharged from the hospital to go home my mother moved us. The discharging doctor told my mother as doctors “We aren’t suppose to say “Blessed” to any patients or their families, but “Lucky” because of religious and respect reasons. He then said to her but she is “Blessed” first all to still be alive, and even more so not to be paralyzed, and being discharged in a wheelchair.
I then added to the strains of our already stressful life by becoming pregnant at 18, and having my daughter when I turned 19, but only by Father God’s (Abba) grace and mercy, I began deciding to turning my life around for myself and my daughter. I enrolled in community college when my daughter begun getting older, and then transferring to Howard University, and earned my BS in Communication Science and Disorders (Speech Language Pathology), with a minor in Human Development, and then a little later down the line I enrolled in Trinity Washington University, were I earned my MS in Public Administration (MSA) with a focus in Organizational & Non-Profit Management. Now since my daughter herself has graduated college, I’m on a mission to begin my journey to being a “Serial Entrepreneur”, and accomplishing all the things I had to put on the back burner until now!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The belief and project I’m sincerely and very seriously committed to no matter how long it takes, is ensuring that my Enterprise i’m currently building (“ToneTaneMent Productions LLC”), is successful in accomplishing the Mission, Vision, and Goals I founded it on, while also ensuring that “ToneTaneMent’s” Platform and Brands will be used for activism, equality, equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice for us all today and the future generations that will follow.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
ABSOLUTELY! I am not building my enterprise, platform, or brands for any type of praise or accolades. That belongs only to Father God Himself.
Some might not believe that, and that’s okay, but as long as my Lord and Savior Father God knows that, that’s all that really matters and is “MOST” important to me.
It’s like the saying goes, “What would you truly be doing with your life and work if you didn’t have to worry about everyday things, like how your bills will get paid, making sure you and your family have food to eat, day-to-day survival, etc.?”
