Story & Lesson Highlights with Torie Nicole of Louisville, KY

We recently had the chance to connect with Torie Nicole and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Torie , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
For everyone to see me, real, raw, and uncut. Well with some fine tuning but you get the idea. Also, to not be afraid of being successful. Like all of those things just mentioned scare the hell out of me. Why? I’ve been through some traumatic things that have caused me to be extremely reclusive and has altered my mindset. So yeah, stepping out of the shadows scares me, but I’m ready. It’s time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone, I’m Torie Nicole. I’m a beauty content creator who is currently rebranding. I feel like I’m on my third rebrand but you never really stop evolving, unless you’re comfortable where you’re at. And for me, getting comfortable is like an Achilles heel. Anywho, I do hair, makeup, and nail content. Y’all I’m just a girl from a small town in Kentucky that has big dreams. I do it for the girls like me and who truly can relate to my content.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Communication! Lack of communication leaves room for you to create scenarios in your head or even make you feel unsure about where you stand with someone. Open communication restores bonds between people and also bridges the gap. But people also have to be willing, have an open mind and heart to receive what’s being told to them and vice versa.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, back in February actually. My ex and I finally moved out of the house we shared. I didn’t have a backup plan. I stayed in an extended stay for a month. Money was tight and I just couldn’t see where I was headed to. I didn’t have a car. I felt lost and gave up. A dear friend of mine let me stay with them while I got back on my feet. I’m super thankful for her because I was able to get a new car and an apartment. God truly blessed me with the people in my life. Thankful for them.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family, honesty, reciprocal energy, faith, effort, communication, success, and looking good.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely! Anything I do, I don’t do it for the praise and recognition. If I get it, fine, but that’s not my motivating factor. If I did it for that, it would be inauthentic and that’s not who I am or how I roll.
