Tyeshia P. shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Tyeshia, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m being called to be more unapologetically self-expressed, which is something that used to intimidate me. Even though I’ve always shared my art and voice proudly, this season felt different. I took some time to pause and refine my intentions, vision, and purpose. I didn’t want to create just for attention, visibility, or monetary gain, but from a place of authenticity that could resonate with those like me.
In the past, I worried too much about how others might perceive me or whether I’d unintentionally offend when sharing my thoughts and opinions. That fear created hesitation, even though my goal has never been to tear down but to uplift. Now, I’ve shifted my mindset to solely focus on speaking with integrity and highlighting ways to stay positive, stand in my truth, and embrace my unique light. Some people need that message, and I am willing to be used as a vessel to deliver it. Choosing to share from that perspective has made me braver, and I am working towards fully showing up in the spaces I’m called to.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I like to say I live at the intersection of creativity and strategy. I’m Tyeshia P., a multi-faceted creative and marketing professional with over five years of experience in the industry. In my career, I work as a Content Strategist, blending data analytics with innovative insights to craft concepts that increase reach, engagement, and revenue for brands. I specialize in helping companies attract the audiences they’re seeking online (web, email, and social media) and convert loyal fans into paying customers.
Beyond my professional work, I run Trust the Transformation, a brand and blog where I share original artwork alongside motivational messages drawn from my own life experiences. I launched the platform in 2020 after a friend encouraged me to share my writing more widely. Since then, it has evolved into a digital space featuring various blog-style articles, my La Galerie art collection, and a presence across social platforms, where I expand my message through posts, videos, and podcast-style content. At its core, Trust the Transformation is about using every day as an opportunity to elevate while inspiring others to do the same.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose is my tendency to people-please. At my core, I value acts of service, as they create the space to help others and open my heart to receive the energy that I put out into the world. But I’ve realized there’s a difference between serving from a place of overflow versus giving from a half-empty cup. In the past, I gave genuinely, but often at the expense of my own well-being. I didn’t always feel whole because I needed to support myself.
Releasing this habit has taught me that it’s okay for things not to be all figured out, to ask questions, and to welcome support from those who are offering it. I am free to be transparent, instead of silently carrying the weight behind the scenes. Becoming my own best friend in the healthiest sense has helped me recognize my needs, desires, and areas for growth, while being gracious to myself in the process of working towards my goals. Letting go of people-pleasing has unlocked a deeper confidence to embody wholeness, create with a liberated mind, and demonstrate self-love in ways I never did before.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I can’t pinpoint an exact moment, but starting my brand was the catalyst. When I began sharing my thoughts and artwork, I realized I could step outside of myself and look at my hardships through a different lens. Instead of keeping the wisdom I’d gained to myself, I chose to share it so others could see what’s possible when you use setbacks as a reason to go harder for yourself.
For a long time, I thought pain only left room for complaining, gossip, or settling for less. Eventually, I grew to want more by embracing my experiences without shame or guilt. That shift allowed me to reframe pain, not as something to hide from, but as a teacher of resilience.
Now, I see my pain as a major part of my purpose. Pain became the compass for my purpose, leading me on a journey to grow, create, and deeply connect with others through my heart space. Using it as power has been an integral guide on my path of evolving for the better.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts by paying attention to how they make me feel. Fads rarely spark deep thought or conviction for me. They tend to pass through without truly moving me to make essential changes. But when something challenges me, pushes me to grow, or impacts my mental and physical health in ways I can’t ignore, I know I’m facing a real shift.
It’s almost like a sixth sense. I can tell if something deserves my time and energy or if it’s just noise. Fads are temporary distractions that don’t require real evolution; they often feel comfortable because they don’t ask much of us. Foundational shifts, on the other hand, demand transformation. They call me to renew my mindset, shed old patterns, and step into a new version of myself.
Fads fade into the background, but real shifts rewrite your foundation. These shifts don’t just influence your choices; they redefine who you are becoming.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m creating and have complete freedom to express myself. The only space I could explore my internal being with no restrictions, no boundaries, just full creative control. When I work on personal projects, I often get lost in my own world for hours. Six can easily pass in what feels like minutes, and it never feels like a second is wasted.
Writing has always been a grounding practice for me, whether it’s poetry, storytelling, songwriting, or the inspirational messages that come to me intuitively. It allows me to articulate my thoughts and expand on feelings in ways that bridge gaps within myself, as well as with others. Visual art brings me the same sense of calm, and the process itself feels like my personal form of meditation.
Creativity, in all its forms, is where I find stillness and clarity. It’s more than an outlet; it’s how I connect with my highest self. For me, peace isn’t silence. Peace is creation flowing through me without limits.
