Story & Lesson Highlights with Zo Doe of West Side

Zo Doe shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Zo, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day involves getting up washing my face, brushing my teeth and get nephews ready for school and take them to school. That’s takes all of 45 mins. I come back and start doing my daily yoga and meditation sessions to help me focus and stay positive throughout the day. Yoga helps me eliminate all the stress for that day and helps me block out legit all the negativity (people, places , things) so that I can be my best self

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Zo Doe owner of Zo Doe Entertainment “Bringing You All Your Entertainment Needs”. I’m a Radio Personality, Promoter, Event Host, Brand Ambassador and not let’s forget Actor. My brand helps bring entertainment to everyday lives on and off social media .
I’m apart of Go Boyz Entertainment, one of the best booking entertainment companies in the world . We help and work with the underground side of entertainment, throwing opens mics, showcases, concerts, you name it to benefit the artists in our city/state. I’m also President of the Pod fam for the What More CanISay podcast featuring Tone Kapone, Zach Boog and KeKe on YouTube. Please go check it out , subscribe and tell a friend to tell a friend .
Right now I’m working on season 2 of my mental health podcast Mental Health Mondays: The Podcast on all platforms

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that’s served it’s purpose and must now be released is helping others before I help myself . I use to always help people who I love in life with unlimited support , advice . Helped them make their careers better, put them in positions to win, and when it came to me and what I had going on, I slacked.
Now it’s all about ME and my brand/life. No longer am I putting somebody else work load or support over my own. I get so caught up in helping people but when it’s my turn for help I don’t get it. That in itself stops TODAY. Very appreciative though of the ones who are there helping me get to where I need to be and motivate me to do better

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failing always held me back the most. I was always judging somebody else success and comparing it to where I was in my career. I used to see everybody else hard work pay off and used that to say something isn’t meant for me. Until one day I realized that I can’t judge someone Chapter 32 by my chapter 2. Somebody else journey isn’t your journey, and once we realize that, we can’t fail, just KEEP GOING

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes how I act in person is the same way I act on social media (inside or outside) It’s no different. I LOVE BEING ME and even though people try to put me in a bubble, my personality overall is just something that makes the bubble pop.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
No regrets in life just lessons learned. At this point in my life and career, yes it’s things I wish I do more but at the same time I look at things as I’m on the right path that God has chosen for me. The things I went through all shaped me to be the person I am today and for that I’ll always be grateful and not regret things
