Ta’Mikel Moore of Atlanta on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Ta’Mikel Moore and have shared our conversation below.

Ta’Mikel, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m not really chasing success anymore, I’m chasing effectiveness. For a long time, I thought it was “success” I was after, but I realized what I truly want is to be effective. A wise man once asked me, “Ta’Mikel, do you want to be a successful man or an effective man?” That stuck with me. Success can come and go, but effectiveness has a lasting impact. Once I understood that, it completely shifted how I move and what I focus on. If I ever stop being effective, I feel like I’d just be existing instead of truly impacting lives and I can’t settle for that.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ta’Mikel Moore, and I’m the CEO and Founder of The Golden Way Co. We’re an all-natural, handmade haircare company that’s all about redefining haircare as a lifestyle. For me, it’s bigger than just products it’s an overall experience by the way it makes people feel, look, and live. What makes us unique is the intention behind every formula, we create with purpose, culture, and community in mind. Right now, we’re focused on expanding our reach and continuing to grow a community that sees The Golden Way as more than a brand, but a movement.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
What I’ve had to release is the idea that being different made me inadequate. I’ve come to realize that I am enough, and my differences are what make me who I am. I admire my creativity my ability to turn nothing into something and the way I express myself through my mindset, my style, and even the way I speak. There’s a unique aura I carry that constantly reminds me of my identity. Even when life gets tough, I know I can persevere under pressure. The days of not embracing my differences are behind me, and I’m fully stepping into who I am.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me something success never could, the nearness of God. I knew what success felt like, but I didn’t really understand suffering until I started battling chronic pain. There were times I collapsed to the floor, crawling because I couldn’t stand or walk, and eventually I was bedridden for almost two years. I went through countless hospitals, doctors, and medications that never solved the pain. In that season, I realized this journey wasn’t about money, it was about ministry. I learned to depend fully on God, because without Him, I can do nothing. Even now, that affliction continues to teach me that suffering doesn’t stop success it actually shapes it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to the belief that everything I put my hands to will prosper. If I can think it, believe it, and see it, then it’s possible. That mindset gives me an unshakable hope even in moments when I have the vision and everyone else seems blindfolded. No matter how long it takes, I stand on that belief because it keeps me moving forward with purpose.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What light inside you have you been dimming?
I’d say the light I’ve been dimming is my wisdom. I’ve always been a very wise young man even as a kid. At just 14 years old, I stood before a crowd and gave a sermonette that moved people deeply. It showed me early on that maturity isn’t tied to age, but to wisdom, and I feel like I’ve been a prime example of that. Lately, I’ve been working on something behind the scenes that gives me a space to fully express how I think, in a way that’s both freeing and impactful.
