Having hates is an inevitable part of any bold journey – everyone who has made a difference in the world has had doubters and critics. As natural as haters might be, in the age of social media it’s become harder and hard to ignore them – and so we asked some brilliant creatives and entrepreneurs to tell us how they deal with haters.

I aspire to make them eat their words. I work Great out of spite, a huge chunk of my motivation comes from it. “Oh you don’t think I can do it?!”.. I will show you. Growing up I got told a lot to get a ‘real job’, versus being an artist, I’ve learned to use it as fuel. It still beats me up quite often, hearing mean/negative words, however Im definitely my biggest hater/critic, so most of what I’ve heard I’ve already said to myself. Read more>>

I was born and raised in a neighborhood of Dallas, TX, called Oak Cliff. Oak Cliff is known for two things: crime and violence. I grew up surrounded by drugs, crime and poverty. Like most people who live in Oak Cliff, I became a prostitute and I sold drugs to survive. I also hung around many drug dealers. I escaped Oak Cliff after watching a drug dealer I lived with get gunned down in front of me by two men. I didn’t know where I was going or what I was going to do. I only knew that I wanted to be someone else somewhere else. Read more>>

I’m at a point in my life where I’m fully aware of who I am and my abilities. There was a time when I thought I wasn’t good enough, or didn’t have all of the tools that I needed to elevate. I no longer doubt myself and I understand that everyday that I wake up, I have another opportunity to touch another soul. I also understand that someone will always have more than you or go farther. Everyone won’t like you or your craft, and that’s fine. I don’t like everyone or their craft either. Overall, as far as “haters”, I believe that word applies to those that don’t even believe in themselves, are unhappy in their life and somewhat bitter. I’ll keep them in the general prayer batch. My last name is “Hardy”, which means bold and stong, persistence is in my DNA. Read more>>

Circumstances throughout the last decade of my life have brought a ton of happiness and a slew of haters. It’s what happens on your rise to the top. Whatever you are working on, if you are even slightly more efficient, have great ideas, or are a self starter – prepare for the haters. Read more>>

I’ve dealt with so much in my life. Most of my life I worried about how people perceive me but all that changed when I got a second chance at life. March 3, 2014 my heart stopped for a couple minutes and I was revived. I was in a terrible, fatal car accident where I lost my best friend Kerry Benson and his girlfriend Germina Cruz. Losing my friends in that accident, losing myself literally, changed my whole thought process. Read more>>

Growing up, I was always the kid that was made fun of because I was different from all of my classmates. In middle school I was writing poetry, short stories, creating concepts for video game ideas I had, role playing with friends, and even creating my own magazines and trying to sell them at my school or in-front of my house. Eventually, in high-school, I created an entertainment news blog. This really put a target on my back and kids would make fun of me for blogging. Read more>>

I try not to let others get to me. I feel like I’m pretty good at not caring what other people think of me, but that wasn’t always the case. A few years ago I was making and posting videos of lash tweezer reviews on my social media. In my videos, I never put anyone down or flat out said I hated any product. If a tweezer didn’t work for me, I made sure to tell people that just because it didn’t work for me, it didn’t mean it wouldn’t work for someone else. Read more>>

Over time I have learned to focus on me. So when there are people or haters I tend to not even notice. The only relationship that matters is with myself and the happier I have become the kinder I have become. So when someone is negative I believe they need to fix some internal things and I have compassion. I hope they find their happiness. Nothing can slow us down when we have a drive in purpose from within. Read more>>
