Wendy Darling’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Wendy Darling. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Wendy, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of the day are spent in quiet. Having to wake up, get to the gym and then to an office for many years, not having to do that feels luxurious. Since I’ve had my own business for over 40 years, I’ve been doing this for a very long time.. I’ll meditate, sometimes use my transformational process, have some coffee, do Wordle and other NYT games and read.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the founder of the Miraculous Living Institute, assisting individuals and organizations to get the results they want both personally and professionally. Whether it’s assisting you to grow your business and make more money, attracting the love of your life, or simply finding a new direction, the Miraculous Living Method makes all this happen with greater ease and speed. I still enjoy the opportunity to speak on stages on a variety of topics. And I now offer a certification program for my methodology, allowing practitioners and their clients to achieve better results. I’m the best selling author of two books, the last being Create Your Miraculous Life: It’s NEVER Too Late. I am in the early stage of my next book: Living A Miraculous Life. I’ve also started working with individuals who are either preparing to retire or are looking for more meaning and purpose during retirement.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
My mother was unfortunately highly critical and abusive. So as I child, I had no self identity or self worth. It was my mom’s thoughts, ideas and opinions that mattered. I lived with a lot of insecurities and fear. It took a very long time to not only discover, but begin realizing who I am, what my unique gifts and talents are, and what I might do with all of that. I think that’s why I am so passionate about helping others find themselves and their ‘lanes’ in life. It’s probably also why I love assisting people to turn their dreams into reality.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In 1990 I had a terrible accident. I had been traveling all over the US, working with a Fortune 100 company. I was supposed to fly to LA. I was sick and never thought that maybe I should cancel my trip. I was at the airport, had gotten sick to my stomach again, so I went outside the Dallas airport to get some fresh air. Unfortunately, I passed out, fell over a ledge and fell approximately 25 feet. The good news is I landed on my right leg. The bad news is I landed on my right leg. My right leg was shattered and it took 5 surgeries over a 10 month period of time before I knew I would be able to walk again. My former husband came to the hospital during the first month, suitcases packed, saying he no longer wished to be married. Even though I take full responsibility for my portion that contributed to his decision, you probably would agree his timing was not great, not that it ever would be. However, the real blow came when we went to court months later. He was awarded full custody of our son who was only 4 years old. I broke into a million pieces. It felt like something snapped in my brain. There was nothing more I loved than being my son’s mom. Prior to my accident, I had no fear. Now I found myself questioning everything. This shook me to my core. However, I began to dig deep and take a very close look at where I was, what choices I had made that got me into this mess and what I needed to do to dig out of this very deep hole. One thing I found was how I had built my life on a very shaking foundation. I had to heal from the wounds of life with my mom. I needed to really discover who I was. And even more important, who I wanted to be. This is when I began getting involved in personal growth. Even though I was good at all the corporate work, I thrived in the personal growth arena. The wake up call of my accident and losing custody of my son is a very extreme example of what can happen when you aren’t loving authentically to the person you were created to be. Once I began living a life more true to who I am at my core, my life became very rich and fulfilling. It also became much easier. (And everything ultimately worked out with my son.. In fact he was my biggest teacher of what unconditional love looked like).

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
What my friends would say what really matters to me are my friends and family. I’m a very loyal friend. Because of my career, I have friends all across the US and Canada. However, I have a very small circle of my closest friends. Thank goodness for texts, FaceTime and Zoom calls! And I delight that my son started a practice of calling me on FaceTime every Sunday. How lucky am I!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
As much as I wish it weren’t true, I think a lot of people are not able to comprehend The Miraculous Living Method. After my accident (and discovering I had a traumatic brain injury) I learned how to meditate. It was in the early days of this practice that I began seeing energy, my intuition became even more heightened and I began allowing sound healing to move through me. As a conservative business consultant, I didn’t understand what was happening to me. At the same time, even during the early days of discovery, I started to feel a calming in my mind and body. So I was curious. I was intrigued. And over time, I was able to develop a complete system. I have even found a way for others to use it. It took me a long time to find words to describe what happens using the Miraculous Living Method. In fact, even though I have many more words today, I still can’t explain it all. And there is a part of me that likes that. Isn’t it wonderful that we don’t have to understand everything? What I do hope is that enough people get their hands on this wonderful gift and process and reap the benefits it can offer.
