Where does your generosity come from?

Over the years, we have consistently been blown away by the examples of generosity we’ve witnessed from our community of creatives and entrepreneurs. We asked some of them to open up to us about where they think their generosity comes from.

My mom is a retired first grade teacher. She taught me the importance of leading with your heart. Her generosity of spirit is what I hope to embody with SoulfulHerbals.com. The spirit of giving has been an important part of our success. We never got traction as a company until I started paying it forward using my TikTok account and social media. I began to give away kratom products to people in need during the Quarantine and the people got behind me. I received testimonials and endorsements from the people I helped and the kava and kratom community rallied behind my efforts. @plantmedicinemafias generated a following of 96k and a lot of it had to do with our program of helping people in need. My generosity comes from the example my mother set for me as a child. She was always willing to give and help people in need without expecting anything in return. Mom instilled in us personal values, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others. More importantly, she taught us that if you give from a place of genuine benevolence, God will reward you. Mom told us to put ourselves in the other person’s shoes. As a result, I am a firm believer in treating others the way I want to be treated and that you reap what you sow. Read More>>

I grew up in a very generous Greek household. It was ingrained at a young age that we help anyone in need. Be it with actual money, food, water, or a hand. We were taught that being in-service is one of the most beautiful things that we as humans can do for one-another, including our own mental health, and for humanity (it raises the vibration). Growing up my brother and I lived with my grandparents while my mom worked several jobs. They never had much but always gave what they could to anyone in need. Often needing help themselves, they would still give to anyone who needed it. I always looked up to them both and admired the kindness they always showed. Seeing how much happiness and gratitude others would show from sometimes the smallest of a kind gesture always give me joy. Read More>>

I think being generous Is something you learn early on in life. I was raised with siblings. Showing respect and expressing our emotions was apart of looking out for the wellbeing of one another. It cost nothing to be generous and a good hearted person. Although, Not everyone deserves that side of you. But, I put out good energy so I know it’ll be reciprocated in the Universe. Read More>>

I would have to say my generosity most definitely comes from my grandma aka my Mimi. She is most definitely a gentle soul who is known for being a kind social butterfly. Growing up she always taught us to be kind no matter what. She would tell me that it wasn’t appealing to have an ugly heart or ugly ways. Being kind was always something that was important to her. She would always tell me no matter what someone or life throws at you to always be the bigger person and to always remain kind. My Mimi has always had the biggest heart and I think it has definitely rubbed off on me.  Read More>>

My generosity derives from deep empathy and personal experiences that have impacted my life. I’ve been navigating the complexity of depression, anxiety, abandonment and attachment issues, people pleasing, and other mental health conditions since I was 12 years old. These struggles have had a long-term influence on my life, causing me to develop a profound awareness of the value of love, care, and support. Over the years, I have been prescribed a multitude of medications, such as Clomipramine, Fluvoxamine, Quetiapine, Escitalopram, Propranolol, Sodium Valproate, Alprazolam (Xanax), Clonazepam (Klonopin), Lithosun, and many more.  Read More>>

My generosity comes from growing up in a household where my mom was on a fixed income supporting 3 black boys and herself with help from others around us. i always thought by not having the latest in name brand I wasn’t good enough but understanding materialistic I things of the world don’t make you, but character does. While growing up, getting assistance from family and friends taught me there are some good people still alive. My mom also showed no matter what it may seem like GOD will always make a way for us.  Read More>>

Generosity is one of my favorite characteristics to use in my business and life in general! It is a two way street in the way that it not only greatly benefits those you are able to bless but it warms your own heart to give to others above and beyond. The heart we have for generosity comes from our relationship with Jesus. His display of generosity points to his love and kindness towards us. So from that comes an overflow we get to give to others simply because we were loved first. We love seeing people surprised and feeling cared for when we take the extra steps to give over what is expected. Read More>>

Generosity is an admirable trait that can come in many forms. It can be exemplified through giving gifts, selfless giving of time by serving others, providing accessible resources (tangible and intangible), or simply being kind to others. But where does my generosity come from? Is it something that I was born with, or did I learn by watching the action of others? Read More>>

My generosity comes from my upbringing. I was taught that if you can help others, then you help them! My grandmother always made sure that we understood 1 John 3:17, “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?”. So this is something that I live by. Read More>>

My generosity comes from not having much growing up. From the early stages of my life I knew my family and I were poor. We would eat the same meal for 5 sometimes 6 days straight. Sometimes we had no power so we would use an extension cord to get power from the hallway outlet. Once I got older I made a promise to myself. The promise was to bless others when I have it because I knew what it felt like to not have anything. Fast forward years later, I still apply that same method to everything I do even acting. For example, I used to host meetup events for actors in LA so they meet other like minded creatives and also receive support from those people as well. I guess you can say God blessed me with a big heart. Read More>>

My generosity comes from my parents, my humble beginnings, and my Christian values. I grew up in Bennettsville, SC, a small rural town. I was born to two, loving teenage parents (that I’m convinced are earth angels.) I did not grow up with much, but watching my parents, I learned service, sacrifice, and generosity. In everything they do, they value others above themselves. They make sure everyone around them has what they need, even if that means them going without. I look forward to the day I can pay them back with rest, flexibility and every desire of their heart. Read More>>
