Optimism is the invisible ingredient that powers so much of the incredible progress in society – from entrepreneurs and investors to artists and creatives who believe in something and are optimistic enough to risk their time, money, and reputation. We asked some of the most optimistic folks we know where they think they get their optimism form.
Jay and Jen Bachman

Chef Jay spends 90 to 100 days a year traveling with Mercy Chefs, serving communities have hit been hit hard by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
We are typically on site within 24 hours of the event, have the rare privilege to walk and talk with people in the worst moments of their lives. This keeps us grounded and able to focus on the big things, the stuff that really matters. Read More>>

For the three of us, it may be tough to answer as one person. I, Shane Bischoff, might share some things in common with Cody Bunn and Alex Ruiz with the fact that there is a desire to perform. Optimism is incredibly hard to maintain some days. Loves ones are lost, bills keep coming, and it’s not always easy to be able to do what you want versus what you need to do. But there is opportunity. There is interest. We’ve yet to enter a recording studio, but people express interest in publishing our story, taking photos of us, or playing with us. That has to bring some positivity. Read More>>

I have an awareness that life isn’t permanent, and that each day should be treated as though it is special because it truly is. Optimism, for me, comes from having an open mind about the possibilities of the future. Anything is possible. Including all dreams coming true. This gives hope for the potential that our experiences can be fascinating if we open ourselves up and believe that the best is yet to come. Read More>>

Making people happy has always been a goal of mine. I am not like those snobby coffee shops that won’t let you edit/change a drink order. I think you should be able to put what ever you want in your drink that makes you happy. Who am I to judge what you like in your drink. I also treat others how i want to be treated, which is basically the “Golden Rule”. Read More>>

Well thats a loaded question. Half of my optimism is from spite, and the other half is from my pets, my friends, and myself. What I mean by the former is, there was a point in my life where I didn’t think I’d make it past 18. I was at a very low point in my life. When I did make it to 18 and graduated high school, I realized I had to keep going. I had a lot of people hating on me and I decided in that moment I wasn’t going to fail and I was going to be somebody, just to spite them. Read More>>

over the years I have managed to basically raise my frequency. A little voice inside does not see obstacles as problems or let downs as hiccups, quite the opposite. I have successfully rewired my brain to believe that every time something or someone lets me down it is an opportunity to do something else, or it is a bullet that was meant to be dodged. After many years of disappointments and reactions to my emotions which would drain me whole, I realized I have 0 control over what others do or say or how life ends up messing up original plans however I am fully responsible for my self and my reactions. “If I’m alive, I am still in the game!..” is one of favorite comments I like to say, and it is true for me. Life is hard, it can be burdensome, it offers traps to the unknowing eye, but it is imperfectly beautiful and rewarding as well! Being alive allows you to go out and accomplish something daily! It can be the smallest of things to passerby’s, however it can be a homerun of epic proportions to you that sets you on the way to more victories! Getting up in the morning is my first Homerun of the day. I am scoring runs the minute my eyes open. From there I look at every step, every movement as huge accomplishment and therefore my optimism is on high every day! Read More>>

I read someplace that it’s useless to live life as a pessimist. I couldn’t agree more. I feel a responsibility to look at life and business through an optimistic lens. To orient myself to see what’s possible, what’s working, and what positive change in the world I can make. Read More>>

My ability to remain optimistic in most situations comes from making a conscious effort to establish the right mindset. I believe your mindset and your perspective play a huge part in what you have the potential to accomplish as well as what you attract. Of course, I have days when it’s difficult to remain positive but I try my best. I also strive to maintain healthy habits that keep my mental health in an overall good space. I talk to God, I speak affirmations, I write down declarations and remind myself of my goals. I even self reflect to see what I could have done better but I’m learning to do so while showing myself grace & not speaking negative comments against myself or the things I want to see manifested in my life. Life is not an experience without obstacles and thinking the worse of things doesn’t change or solve the situation. Having a pessimistic mindset was a norm for me. It would however, limit my progression, stunt my development, and devour my passion in life. I would go through trials thinking the impossible and defeat. I would look for the quickest way out or around a situation, instead of completing it. Throughout life, I learned that it accomplished me nothing. Read More>>

I credit my optimism to knowing that God has a plan and that plan leads to success. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s not supposed to be. Everything worth having in life is supposed to be earned. That’s just the way God created this existence. If you want to be in shape, you got to work for it. If you want to get money, you got to work for it. If you want happiness, you have to make moves that will bring you that feeling. Nothing is automatic. I think that is what plagues a lot of people, not getting what they want when they want it, so then their attitudes turn sour. Read More>>

My optimism comes from understanding how blessed I am to have opportunity to seize the day. There are so many around the world with less privilege (access) than I have and I never take that for granted. My optimism comes from the idea of success. In order to achieve goals there has to be the idea that it is achievable. In order to have that mindset, you have to believe that it can be done.
If you are facing a task that feels insurmountable, the only way to get there is to be optimistic that it can be achieved. If you put additional roadblock, pessimism, in your way then you will not be able to achieve your goals. This will lead to more negativity which can truly impact how your think of yourself. I’m not exactly sure where my optimism comes from; I guess over the years I’ve learned to trust in my ability to create and thats opened me up to the idea that anything is possible. Now when I create, I make things that speak to me…and for me. So I’m less concerned with being trendy or in season, and more concerned with developing original art for art’s sake. Read More>>

When I started my business almost a decade ago, a friend of mine encouraged me to watch a documentary called “The Law of Attraction”. Optimism at Laurel Reath is not only influenced by our values and approach of life but also nurtured through a combination of experiences, mindset, and perspective.
Being a creative individual, I understand the importance of looking at things in a positive light to bring about fruitful outcomes. In my experience, a negative attitude tends to result in negative outcomes, while approaching challenges with optimism and a can-do spirit can lead to positive transformations.
