I have been working on my self discipline since about 8 years ago when I started exercising for a healthier life and a stronger physique, but to my surprise this led me to a much stronger mental level than physical, since then my path of thought and my discipline gave a great change taking me to higher levels in all areas. A big change happened in my life when I put $25,000 into a project. I really wanted to show everyone that I could do it. But I made a big mistake. I let my feelings and not being good at controlling myself get in the way. This mistake led to a big problem – losing everything again. It was really hard and my head hung low, but it helped me become a better person. Read More>>

Honestly, I think my self-discipline stems from years spent in marching band. High school band was a big deal in my town – rivaling the football team – and the calendar revolved around learning, drilling/practice, performance, and rest. It paid off because we had this amazing sense of community and belonging. I know it has stuck with me over the years because til this day, I still have dreams about marching band… usually when I am going through creative block/strife. Read More>>

I have always been one to make important and direct goals for myself. Even as a teen I would write down and record my guitar practice schedules, my hockey training, and my workouts. Every day, I tell myself that if I am not doing something that works towards those goals, then I’ve wasted a day. Sometimes it can get to an unhealthy level, where I feel guilty for sitting down and watching a TV show for a couple of hours, so I have to make sure I catch myself and still keep my mental health balanced, but overall, I like the way I am and I’m fine with the balance I’ve created. Still to this day, I write out goal sheets and regimes I want to follow, whether it is for health&fitness, or for my music. Read More>>

My self-discipline is very goal driven. I have found that the academic structure of work and discipline has reinforced the strategy I use today, for all things that require an execution. it is necessary and helpful to find all the ways to limit distractions, maintain focus ( even in short increments), maintain optimism and be open to thinking outside of the box in order to find ways to overcome challenges. it also helps when the risk is high, and the need to maintain persistent contributes to the area of discipline. My self discipline comes from my upbringing. My parents instilled some great qualities in me as a kid far as respect and discipline goes. I had rules to follow, chores to do, and schedules and structure so I’ve always been able to manage my time and keep myself focused as an adult! I think it’s very important to start these qualities at a young age, not that it can’t be learned later in life, but having it from the start made me stand out in different ways from other people because of how I carried myself and what I resembled. I love my parents for that, I may not have been fond of it so much as a child but I’m very grateful for them, Read More>>

The road to sustained happiness, is through disciplining our behavior. Discipline is a foundation to life. From the time I was a little kid I knew that hard work pays off. In order to accomplish anything in life I had to be disciplined and consistent. The truth is, having kids at a very young age made me mature faster. I knew right away that I had to be disciplined to get up and go to work everyday even though I was tired or I hated my job. I had to be disciplined to go to school and get my Bachelor’s degree. I had to be disciplined to get certified in Ophthalmology. I had to be disciplined to be healthy. But most importantly, I had to be disciplined to be a better man or my family. Read More>>

I believe my self disciple comes from being an athlete for most of my adult life. As an athlete, pursing a goal requires a commitment to doing the work. By meeting my goals when I put in consistent work and seeing failure when I didn’t put in the work, my sense of self disciple was honed to become an almost innate quality. Read More>>

I believe the self-discipline comes from my makeup. My family works extremely hard. My Mom literally can wake up early in the morning and work all day until night out in the yard as she loves nature. My Dad works extremely hard as well. I often make reference that my family wakes up working. I love to sing, but I also know that if I don’t take care of myself and my voice, it can make it extremely difficult to do what I love and do it to the best of my ability. Read More>>
