We were lucky to catch up with Martha Lockie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Martha, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I believe I knew from the time I was probably 4 or 5! I came into the world with a deep understanding and appreciation for my inner world and the knowledge that there was a profound meaning to life. I understood and felt an intimate relationship with God – not because I had any experience with Christianity. My family baptized me Episcopalian because that was what their family expected, however we never attended church, never discussed God in our home and never read the Bible.
I am certain that knowing what our Soul’s purpose is, is woven into every aspect of our being and that this true nature can be hijacked by imposed restrictions on where we place our attention. Parents, teachers, leaders come at us from their construct, their point of view and they have opinions, sometimes rigid, sometimes not (but still intact), of how we should behave, what we should be doing based on structures that they bought into based on: gender, religion, socio-economic standing, race, country of birth, etc. I believe that every Soul carries the knowledge of their Soul purpose, they just forget or choose to ignore it because they were not supported in expressing it.
I knew my Soul Purpose was to help others heal, utilizing the energy of love, trust and forgiveness without exception and also to express my creative nature through the written and spoken word. I was born into the perfect family for this – my resonance at the end of my previous life (yes – there is no “previous” as lives and timelines collapse and expand layer upon layer) was a match, my energy was needed, for my family of origin in this life. My family’s lineage is one of alcoholism, mental health issues and suicide but also incredible determination, talent, intelligence and creativity.
I carried the knowledge of my Soul purpose with me for many, many years and simultaneously, pushed the knowledge down. I would dip in and out of its expression, unable to give myself to it fully, because I was fighting my conditioning. I was raised in an upper-class family in Los Angeles, where I was expected to dress a certain way, speak only when spoken to, attend private school, get married, have children and put my needs 2nd. I was a debutante which carried an outdated air of supremacy and my creative interests were used against me in an effort to gain control over my behavior. I was angry, defiant and pushed against anything and everything in an effort to be understood, which ultimately hurt me more than anyone and caused me to make decisions based on fear.
So, I abandoned myself and spent many years being a wife and mother and set aside my own needs. Even though having a family and children was always important to me, choosing partners who were not the right fit and forcing myself to make it work – trading my sense of self for the expectations of others – was not a healthy foundation. Still, my Soul’s purpose called to me and I ached to live it, every minute, every day. During what little time I had for myself, I deepened my meditation practice, and kept my finger on the pulse of all things “spiritual.” I was finally able to prioritize my needs and for me that meant leaving a toxic marriage in 2005 and putting my time and energy into living my spiritual nature in every aspect of this dense human experience.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I offer three different modes of Akashic Records readings, depending on how much time and energy my client wishes to invest. Most of my clients will begin with the comprehensive Essential reading and then return for a Spirit Guide reading in order to begin the practice of actively getting to know their Spirit Guide Team and learn how to work with them for higher manifestation. Many of my clients come to me during specific life changes: divorce, estrangement, a Saturn Return, physical challenges, repeated misaligned relationship patterns, career changes, or wanting to become more connected to their Soul’s true purpose. Clients also seek my intuitive skills in order to learn how to access theirs or enlist me on a regular basis in place of talk therapy. I also love working with parents-to-be and provide my Energetic Birth Blueprint as a way for parents to have more agency over the birth process by harnessing their own energy frequencies. I am also a Minister and provide rites of passage ceremonies as well as home clearings and blessings.
What sets me apart is my extensive knowledge as a medical intuitive combined with my ability to tap into higher states of consciousness. Because of this, all of my readings include an energy clearing and I offer my clients concrete actions for healing so they may move forward making decisions that support their Soul Blueprint. Clients leave my sessions understanding that they are the Conscious Creators of their own experience, empowered to make lasting change.
I read for Soul’s in person or remotely – all over the world – as energy knows no time or place.
I love utilizing the body’s natural energy to heal and believe that when I give a healing, I receive one in turn.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe it is a trifecta of the following and that in my experience – all three are necessary to provide a meaningful experience for my clients:
Life experience for me has been one of the biggest influences on my journey. Because I am a woman of a certain age, I have had the fortune of experiencing the full gamut of being human ~ the heartache of traumatic situations, and the joy of beautiful encounters ~ with childbirth, raising children, uncoupling from a toxic marriage, family estrangement, friends, employers, etc., and I’ve had ample opportunities to learn from these, diagnose and practice my intuitive and energetic skills to transform the karma attached.
I think it’s paramount to state that living the human experience does not mean we deny the unpleasant, rather we take it with us – our grief, our disappointment, our unrealized dreams…we also take our awe, inspiring milestones, relationships with our parents, siblings and children (no matter how satisfying or disappointing) – we take it all because these opportunities shape us.
To be spiritual does not mean everything is sunshine and flowers – this is spiritual bypassing and is an ungrounded existence, There will be rainy days and rainbows as well – one cannot exist without the other. On a cosmic level – we each made the agreement to incarnate into this dense human form, we forgot why we came and our journey is to remember!
This is not to say that a very young person (in age) cannot do this – but the ones who are able to read others and intuit past life, ancestral and current life karma are very old Souls. Still, they may not have the second qualification – which is professional training.
Professional training from a qualified school or mentor is essential and I put the time into studying under a reputable mentor ~ Dr. Francesca McCartney ~ who has been galvanizing her teachings for over 40 years through the Academy of Intuitive Medicine® in Sausalito, California.
The main reason professional training is important is that it teaches necessary skills for every facet of higher learning: discovery, diagnosis, clearing the karmic blocks and giving the client definite tools so that they may become their own best healers. Being a medical intuitive means that I know what part of the physical, emotional, and subtle body is affected and most importantly, what actions to prescribe to heal it. I give concrete ways to do this as well as a mantra and a symbol so that the healing is contained and may be drawn upon by the client when needed. It is important to note here that I am not a medical doctor.
A professional training mentor or organization with integrity will comprise a governing body that establishes and maintains a protocol to ensure practitioners are performing within the bounds of ethics.
Another reason for good training is that most intuitives are extremely empathic, and initially don’t realize their 7th, 4th and 2nd chakras are wide open while feet, hands, 1st and 3rd chakras are not open enough. as such, they often merge with or project their energy onto the client unknowingly. It is important to learn and practice energetic separation techniques before the reading and learning how to set up the reading space to support this on a daily basis.
Time in the field: they say it takes 10,000 hours to make a Mistress / Master and I wholeheartedly agree. I began by giving psychic readings, channeling the Akashic Records, and performing energy work on friends over 30 years ago. When I decided to make the shift to providing readings in a professional capacity, my intuitive gifts were activated under the tutelage of Francesca for 3 years (earning a Master’s Certificate), followed by additional activations lasting 18 months, becoming an Advanced Soul Realignment® practitioner. After achieving this I opened my professional practice over nine years ago. I’m sorry – not sorry – so many people want the degree without going to school – this is a recipe for disaster! Clients can feel the energy of a confident and prepared healer!
Over the past six years – many people have pivoted and changed professions – moving into the field of spiritual practitioners. This is a blessing as we need more Souls to board the train so we may enact lasting healthy changes for our planet and the humans here. But I feel that it is important to earn your reputation – not in the number of followers on social platforms, not through fancy graphics and memes, not because of your outward appearance, but through actual time spent living and working in your trade.
Just reading books, taking a quick course and opening a practice is unhelpful for the client coming to you to heal.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I love this question! I’d like to think that it wouldn’t be too different than how I am dedicated to living my life now:
Spend more time with the people I love and care about and who love and care about me.
Live in acceptance of what is – knowing that there is a greater force at play in why people do what they do, helps me live without blame when things don’t go the way I think they should. There is a beauty in being able to live life on life’s terms, and practicing forgiveness for self and others fits in here.
Being of service to more young women, helping them root out the places where we have carried trauma and the collective burden of being unseen and unheard for millennia. This includes eradicating the ways we compete with each other and throw each other under the bus. Unfortunately, society and the patriarchy have placed us in the position of feeling that we need to compete with our sisters; to look a certain way, behave a certain way in order to get the man, make the money, be super mom, believe that worth is built upon producing and consuming. We won’t resonate with every woman who enters our orbit, but neither do we need to tear a sister down in order to make ourselves feel better.
Being more truthful (about how something makes me feel, coming from a place of authenticity and going where the love is) every moment and trusting that the aligned results that support my Soul will continue to set me free. This is not native to being a woman in the type of family who raised me. I was taught to be nice, put a smile on my face, project a certain image and above all else – do not to rock the boat. I have transmuted that energy and I have replaced it with kindness. I have no interest in being nice – nice girls never changed the world. Kindness is my jam!
Honor what I am going through as a spiritual woman having the full human experience. Being spiritual is the full expression of the good, the bad, the ugly and the awesome!
Taking my gifts out into the world, making more in person connections and spending less time in the digital realm.
Spend more time writing and creating art because I believe that creativity is the way we celebrate, honor and merge with the Divine.
Knowledge: keep reading, questioning, listening, learning and being teachable.
