Meet Heather Stanley

We recently connected with Heather Stanley and have shared our conversation below.

Heather, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I have always been a ray of sunshine! Some of it comes from my belief in God, Romans 8:28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” I have definitely been through hard things, but I believe that things work out for good. I also stay optimistic by surrounding myself
with people who are kind and fun and just good people. Who you surround yourself with makes such a big difference!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Sure! I am a home baker in Murfreesboro, TN, specializing in custom cookies for every occasion. We actually just celebrated our 5 year anniversary! I love being creative and making beautiful edible works of art for my customers to enjoy. I also spend time at various craft fairs and vendor events, especially in the fall and winter months. I have an amazing community of people who love what I do, and I am so grateful for them.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I am fueled by optimism, work ethic, creativity…and iced coffee. I could talk for hours about systems, processes, etc, but if you believe in yourself you truly can do anything. Find something that interests you, and learn everything you can about it. Meet up with other small business owners in your area and bounce ideas off of each other. Some of your best resources will be the people on your area who are in your field. I firmly believe in community over competition.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents instilled in me a strong work ethic from a young age. I played sports growing up, and on the field I learned the values of showing up and working as a team. As a child I also saw my mom run her own business, and my dad go to work every day to provide for our family. I’m so grateful for their influence, and they have been my number one fans since we opened five years ago!
