Meet Shakethia (KeeySolid) Holt

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shakethia (KeeySolid) Holt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Shakethia (keeysolid), so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I simply answer this by saying, I found my purpose through a prayer…it’s more than just purpose for me it’s my calling… My purpose is god’s designed plan/ divine assignment for my life, it is truly what he has sent me here to do… I couldn’t seem to tap into my purpose or into my assignment right away, I didn’t know what to do or how to do it but I knew it had to be done…instead of staying lost & confused I chose to ask for god’s help, his guidance, and leading over my life, I asked for clarity regarding my purpose… So as I started walking & talking with god it all became so clear to me I knew exactly what I had to do…I told god wherever he needs me to be or wherever he needs the gospel spoken and spread I’ll go, I won’t question his assignment(s)…

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I do a lot of things, I make music, I have a clothing line and also I’m planning to have my own youth and community center in the near future… I always had the heart to influence people no matter the age or race positively whether it’s through my music, my clothing or if it’s just a general conversation… I always try to send uplifting and encouraging words to those around me even if I’m in the midst of my own storm. My everyday motto to myself is to keep going no matter what, you never know how your testimony and not giving up could shape someone’s else life…

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I have a lot of qualities and skills but my top three would be my faith in god my determination & my hunger

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I would like to shout my mama out on this one…ever since I was a kid my mama has always showed up and been everything I ever needed her to be, whether it was the doctor when I was sick or my friend when I felt alone she always got the job done… I always will admire how my mom never gives up no matter how hard it may get so if I never seen her quit or give up I know I must do the same I owe her that much
