We were lucky to catch up with Calipso Aranda recently and have shared our conversation below.
Calipso , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get it from just working in so many industries I feel like I have lived over a dozen different lives I am laughing as I say this I have worked many jobs up to 3 jobs at one point , because I wanted to learn everything and it isn’t till you realize you gotta work smarter not harder I exhausted myself for so long but I knew everything was going to lead me me to where I needed to be , my parents also taught me my work ethics , I was a young mom by the age of 18 so I knew I had to grow up fast, the amount of knowledge I learned has led me to apply it to what I do now , nothing was ever handed to me in the entertainment industry you have to have a thick skin, and I did not let anything get to my head , I have a hustle mentality I came to the united states to have a better life for me and my family so I have to keep working hard as I can.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I Host a Talk Show on Chicano Hollywood they are the first media company dedicated to elevating, entertaining and empowering the 40-50 million English speaking Americans that identify as Chicanos or with Chicano culture, I represent the Chicano Community the Latino Community It’s my honer to show pride to my culture with The Calipso Show we do just that we wrapped up season 1 with an array of special guest’s who are a great influence to our community my motto has always been to Inform , Inspire , Entertain and Help Other’s , I grew up watching talk show all my life after school I would rush home just to see all my shows , Rikki Lake , Montel Williams Show , Christina and yes Jerry Springer he is such an Icon!!! I never imagined being able to have a talk show working in radio for 15 years plus prepared me so much and I am beyond thank full for that it was a blessing and a curse . The Show is available to watch on the Chicano Hollywood TV app and on Cox Cable in Phoenix AZ & Latino USA TV this has been such an exiting journey for me and our crew the best part has to be that we all felt like family on the show and that just made it so much easier and for things to run smooth and that was very special to me our live studio audience made our show that more special just being present and enjoying the show we are ready for season 2 already .
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would have to say Fearless , Staying Humble and to be open in Being a Student always , my advice is always to just keep an open mind , don’t put all your eggs in one basket , be realistic , have a back up plan just incase and absolutely Do not burn your bridges with anyone because you never know you might have work with them one day , run into them or in some case may need something from them too I see this a lot it really does not cost anything to be nice to others also I think it’s great to find someone they can shadow who is already doing what you want to persue cause I am def taking notes on someone who has been an expert on this and knows what they are doing versus someone who just has a following of 20K and just started again I have seen some people that don’t know what they are doing just cause they lack the skill so keep learning that’s how you can improve

The Show is looking for partners , sponsors , small business and Investors so that we can start working on Season 2 our small bussiness have so much potential to get their product out there and reach so many clients but with the right marketing and smart decision to just go for it get a short 30 second commercial add we all know we have to put in our money in first why not start big when we where pitching the idea to many business I really was like wow this is no brainer you are getting good quality media work done and if you say no you are not serious about your business ,I want everyone to win no room for hate or jealousy it’s time we all support each other and Chicano Hollywood is all about that, so please contact me if you are interested
