Meet Kaye Lejaye

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kaye Lejaye. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kaye below.

Kaye, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.

I have suffered with mental health issues for years now. It was hard then and still is now, but finding ways to overcome mental helps a lot. I am still overcoming mine, but to get to the point I am now, I have to first pray…..PRAY! YOU HERE ME. I believe in God so I worship him, but even for others who have their own beliefs in their own higher power, pray for strength, pray for abundance, pray for sanity. I also look at my family, particularly, my kids. They look up to me. As a single mother of a 12 year old boy and a 1 year old girl, I have to show and prove to them that anything you want to do can be possible. Do not let mental issues, haters, anyone or anything get you down and in a slump. They seen me go through it and I am sure they hate seeing their mother break down. Even though they are young, I explain to them what is happening and they pray with me. My son uplifts me with spiritual and kind words and my daughter just makes me smile and laugh. It gives me the energy to push forward because, as all parents, I do this for them and to pass down for generational wealth.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am the Founder and CEO of K1 Management. It is an Entertainment Management established in 2019 in Montgomery, Alabama. I would like to say it is a Management that seeks “Premier” artists, models, actors/actresses, and entertainers who want to get more exposure and achieve the highest level to be an A-list artist and come in contact with major celebrities, labels, agencies, and more. ALL GENRE IS ACCEPTED HERE!

Me being an artist and model myself, I know what it is like trying to do all the work yourself, managing yourself while creating artistry, needing that help, but also anxious and having that issue of being screwed over by underlying contracts.

I like to sit and explain to clients that trust is a big factor and I definitely can relate and want to help and manage on a comfortable, trustworthy level to get to the correct people, labels, etc. I like to push my clients to go to great lengths and will teach them the business aspects of the entertainment industry so that they will not be screwed over in the long run.

I also have another business I am venturing into as well. Eyefire by Kaye, is an eye beauty care line and also specializes in color contacts. It will provide and have products for your eyes and skin. Coming soon. As mentioned before, I am also an artist, songwriter, and model. I have been doing music for over 12 years. My artist’s moniker is Kaye LeJaye. New music releases are coming soon as well.

I also am a manager that plays a lot of roles. Usually, managers take on all aspects, but to break it down you have more manager and managerial duties:

Account Manager
Talent Manager
Tour/Road Manager
Day to Day Manager
PR Manager (optional)

Plus more. I am one of the managers who is qualified to take on all roles and forms of management.

Which is a big plus.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Leadership
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Analytical Skills
Dependability and a Strong Work Ethic

So hard to narrow it down to just 3. It was so hard to narrow it to 4! LOL. You need these skills and knowledge for any career in life, rather simple, or complexed.
Best advice I can start off with is KNOW YOUR CAREER! KNOW YOUR INDUSTRY! LOVE WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO DO. Sometimes people just want to do something because of the money, or it looks fun, but do what you love and push to pursue it.
Lastly, and it may sound strange, but LISTEN TO YOUR HATERS. To the contrary, they will be your biggest supporters and not know it. The more they spill your name and hate, the more acknowledgement you may get, because they are saying your name for others to see exactly who you are and they may actually like you and what you are doing and from there, you gain fans, love, support, rep, credentials, etc.
They also can inspire you. When they say “you can’t”, say “JUST WATCH ME!”

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

It has not been a smooth ride. Being a female in this industry is not the easiest in this male-dominated field. I definitely have my fair share of unfairness in this industry, from being talked to inappropriately, almost touched the wrong way, not being respected, and downplayed as a manager.

There have been times I was told that I must work harder and do more than a man should to get the wages and respect from anyone in the industry. But, I build myself up with my standards to succeed and continue pushing and got to the spot I am at now and still climbing high.
