Meet Sarina Hall

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarina Hall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sarina, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.

Honestly just looking back and seeing how far I’ve come is amazing. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life and there was definitely a point when I let it consume me, those were some of the lowest points in my life. I knew I needed help but I just didn’t know where to start and I was struggling so much that I didn’t see a point to try at times, then I ended up getting pregnant with my first kid and everything after that changed. Once I got pregnant I knew I wanted a career I loved so I started my journey in esthetician school and after I got licensed I got my first job as a waxer and that’s what I’ve done ever since. Even with all of those wonderful things I still struggled with my depression and PTSD after being in a really toxic relationship. I didn’t really start seeing a therapist or start my healing journey until after I had my daughter, I saw a couple of different therapist until I found the one that fit exactly what I needed, I started EMDR therapy for my trauma and I even got on anti-depressants for a while to help all the overwhelming feelings I was going through. This was all about 5 years ago and I’m still seeing a therapist once a month and I still struggle some days but now I’m in such a better place than I was, I have an incredible job working at The Bush Waxing Boutique with the most supportive team of women I’ve ever encountered! I have 3 kids now and I love my little life. I’ve grown my platform on Instagram and even just started a mental health page where I’m trying to build a community of people that can be there for each other and help bring awareness and a real life perceptive to mental health issues.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a licensed esthetician but I specialize in full body waxing. I currently work at The Bush Waxing Boutique in Fort Worth it’s in this old house off of Magnolia Ave. and it’s the cutest girly pop place. We offer luxury waxing services as well as, brow laminations, Dermaplaning, lash lifts, & spray tanning. I absolutely love working there because we go out of our way to make sure you are comfortable and have the most luxurious experience and most of all the women I work with all of my team including our owner is just so supportive and amazing, such down to earth people.

I’ve also started a mental health/self care instagram page where I’m trying to bring awareness to mental health struggles and what it can really look like every day. Also want to help people cope with their daily struggles and build a community of people that are supportive. Mental health awareness is something that’s super important to me because of my own journey and if I’m able to help even just one person then it was worth it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

For me obviously going to esthetics school and getting all of that knowledge to pass my tests and get my license are super important to my journey, but my first job in the industry taught me A LOT! My first job was at European Wax Center and that’s where I got all the training and knowledge on full body waxing I learned from so many great waxers I worked with there and they really helped me hone my skills and grow. I also feel like I learned what I didn’t like about the waxing industry and corporate waxing chains which helped me find a place that was right for me. Another important skill I’ve learned over the years is customer service I’ve worked in many different retail positions and that’s really helped me be able to handle all kinds of situations with clients and how to be more understanding and confident with people. I’ve always been more introverted so having that experience really helped me get out of my shell and be able to make connections with all of clients.
Advice I have for anyone else on this same journey or thinking about it, just take your time to hone your skills, continuing education and getting your hands in the field are gonna be the best things for your career. I definitely wouldn’t have the knowledge or skill I do now without going out there and working at different places until I found the one that fit for me and taking all the courses and education you can is gonna advance your skills and help you find your niche. But always remember to stay true to yourself and listen to the universe because she’s there to help guide you.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has definitely been my mindset. Since working at The Bush it’s really helped me change my mindset about everything, I’ve felt more supported and I’ve gotten so much help with my social media and feeling confident to put myself out there and that’s definitely because of the support from my team! I’ve learned so much about business and improved my service quality immensely. I also started reading more self help books with my team we do a little book club together and it’s really helped shift my mindset when it comes to business and my personal life. I’m in such a happier more healed place than I was a year ago and I know that has a lot to do with where I work and who I work with. I’m so grateful to be where I’m at now and see how much I’ve grown.
