Meet Claretha Yeager

We recently connected with Claretha Yeager and have shared our conversation below.

Claretha, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Confidence doesn’t happen overnight. But you can tap into a wellspring of personal courage with the right mindset.

Growing up I rarely ever experienced a sense of “fitting in”. Being a child growing up in a Navy family meant that we moved around a lot as a kid. But when I finally got into junior high we stayed put, which was great to plant some roots, but I quickly realized that didn’t mean life was going to be a cake walk. Being the middle child of mixed race parents, I found it was a little harder to make deep friendships because I had different childhood experiences and I didn’t exactly look like everyone else.

Even though I enjoyed the company of my friends I never really loved the skin I was in until I started finding artistic ways to express myself and spend more time in nature. It was the magic of Mother Nature and having the opportunity (and courage) to pursue art that really helped me cultivate my intuition, self trust, self-esteem, and connection to my Higher Self.

Once you reach a level of self trust, regardless of what happens externally, you know you’re always going to be alright.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I help heal the Spirit by providing the essential physical, emotional, energetic, and metal therapies that clients require to be whole again.

I see true wellbeing as a lovely mix of science and spirituality. We are multidimensional beings inside a dense physical body and finding a way to care for BOTH is what I love to do in my practice.

I initially fell in love with acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) because it is a comprehensive system that takes into consideration not only physical ailments, but also the emotional and spiritual components that greatly influence health and vitality.

Since opening my acupuncture practice over 11 years ago, I have since added other modalities to become even more holistic in how I address each person individually. Depending on the day, I use a combination of acupuncture, cupping, Chinese herbal medicine, hormone testing, allergy testing, Reiki, energy block clearing, timeline clearing, frequency medicine, lifestyle recommendations, tuning forks, essential oils, crystals, and more. I love that each day isn’t the same!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

When I consider where I am NOW and where I was when I was “trying to figure it out”, I would say that there are 3 things that helped keep me going when I hit challenges.

First, is that having self compassion is a non-negotiable. Whatever you’re diving into for the first time, it’s not going to be perfect. And that OK! Progress over perfection and the faster you “fail” (there really is no such thing as failing, only feedback) the faster you’re going to gain real momentum toward your goal.

Second, is that not everyone needs to understand your goals and dreams. Your Soul mission isn’t a group project. So although you can seek counsel from those that have knowledge to share, ultimately you are the one driving that bus. Find the people who are supportive and can share in your enthusiasm for what you get to create.

Third, is to keep an open mind. Accept that you don’t know everything and that you can’t always see the people, situations, the timing, and information that will give you a boost along your journey.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Overwhelm is an easily achievable state these days. Unfortunately. I know when I’m getting there when get short-tempered and I don’t feel like I have the time or energy to support other people. I usually employ 3 different things to get me back into an empowered state.

NATURE: being outside immersed in the fresh air and trees soothes my Soul and helps give me perpsective on what *really* matters in the moment.

MEDITATION: I started meditating regularly in 2015 and consider it a non-negotiable. But, if my schedule is different for a few days and I don’t make that time to sit quietly…you can tell!

BREATHWORK: I love breathwork because you can do it anywhere. Anxious, overwhelmed, angry or sad? There’s a type of breathwork that you can do to shift the physiological state in the body. One of my favorites is doing the Breath of Fire in traffic.
