Meet Melissa Rohlfs

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melissa Rohlfs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melissa below.

Hi Melissa, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem by working through my past, the trauma, the hurts, the wounds and healing from them. Confidence and self-esteem was also developed in learning to listen to and trust my body and myself. Also acknowledging my identity in who I am, what I stand for, value and believe in gave me my confidence and self-esteem. It was a long and winding road, let me tell you!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

**Who I Am**
I’m Melissa Rohlfs, a holistic health and life coach dedicated to helping teen girls and women find freedom from food struggles and cultivate a healthy body image. My journey and passion stem from understanding the deep connections between stress, emotional triggers, and our relationship with food. I’m the proud owner of Free 2 B Coaching, as well as a wife and mom to two teens.

**What I Do**
I empower women and teen girls to break free from the cycle of dieting, overeating, and food obsession by addressing the root causes of their struggles. I focus on stress management, emotional well-being, and cultivating a positive relationship with food to create lasting transformation.

You know how moms and teen girls often struggle with food, whether it’s undereating, overeating, or constantly dieting? What I do is help them find freedom from these food struggles by addressing the stress and emotional triggers behind them.

For example, Kristi had been dieting for years and often overeating due to strict food rules. Since we started working together, she lost 20 pounds without giving up her favorite foods.

I teach simple tricks to manage stress, make healthy eating easy, and feel better through natural, stress-free strategies for lasting change.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think the 3 qualities that were most impactful in my journey were persistence, resilience and curiosity. My best advice for folks early on in the journey are to keep fighting for what you want and believe in. Being curious is a game changer, yet so many of us are taught at a young age to shut that down. Be curious and open!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, it’s usually because I have taken on too much. When that happens, getting some time away {even a few hours at a coffee shop by myself} to pray, re-evaulate, journal and reflect are helpful. Another thing that overwhelms me is feeling like there is not enough time to do all the things, so sitting down, planning out the to do list with the calendar also helps. Finally, I’m a big fan of the 5-5-7 breath to help calm down the body and the brain as well. Breathe in for 5 seconds, hold the breath for 5 seconds, then exhale for 7 seconds. That takes the body and brain out of overwhelm.
