Meet Roger Ribeiro

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Roger Ribeiro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Roger , thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout

Burnout is something that is very common in the lives of artists, unfortunately. I believe that it occurs due to receiving too many “no’s” and broken expectations, if that is even possible in our field, especially because it is very challenging because we cannot control situations and we depend on many people to be able to do our work.
I try to fill this part with people and things that fill me with happiness, such as spending time with my family, traveling, playing with my son, going to the movies, theater, playing video games and practicing my jiu jitsu.
Maybe the secret is to take life more lightly.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I work with audiovisual and theater. I am passionate about what I do. I constantly study with the aim of being the most complete professional possible. I believe that being an artist is living life and being able to replicate it in your work, whether in films and/or plays.

I have just finished two film productions, a feature film and a short film. At the beginning of the year, I won my 4th award for best actor and recently I came in 4th place in a script festival, with a script that I wrote.

I am currently looking to produce 2 feature films and 2 series, one for children and one for adults. I am also finishing my course to improve my dubbing skills amidst so many difficult conversations about AI in this field.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to follow my day-to-day life on my Instagram @roger.ribeiroo and my blog www.sentanaplateia.com, where all the news about the independent audiovisual and stage world is published.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Wow, great question.
I can put it in the following order:
1st – Resilience
2nd – Patience
3rd – Purpose.
I always do the exercise of thinking about the reason that brought me to the area, to understand the pulse of my heart.
Giving up is not an option.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

I believe that my biggest challenge today is producing my films. I want to take advantage of financing options and negotiations with studios. My main and primary goal is to make my work known to the general public.
My strategy for now is to publicize my achievements on social media, because there I talk about my day-to-day life and present my difficulties, achievements and everything that is important to me.
