Every day, our team is focused on how to help our audience and community reach their full potential in every part of their lives – personal and professional. Building confidence and self-esteem is one of the most essential requirements for success and below we’ve presented some of the conversations we’ve had around how to build confidence.

Honing my craft over time has been one of the most empowering parts of building
my confidence. There’s something incredibly satisfying about perfecting a melody, reaching
a new level of vocal prowess, or writing lyrics that truly resonate. Every hour I’ve spent
refining my music, rehearsing, writing, collaborating, and learning has been instrumental to
my sense of accomplishment and self-confidence. Read more>>

Through gentle self-resonance to my jackal or intellectual parts, I unburdened each inner voice of myself until my self-talk went from a large dialogue to a soft, clear monologue. I released my judges and educators to be free to pursue their passions. Read more>>

I have a lot of gratitude towards my mother and father in regards to my confidence and self-esteem. I grew up with my mom, and my younger sister, Áróra, in a small town called Akureyri in the North of Iceland. My mother was constantly pushing us to step out of the comfort zone and take risks. She was a very encouraging parent, while still allowing us to be perfectly ourselves. E.g. she would never push us to study hard, or force us to do any sport, but rather engage in conversation about whatever we might be studying to spark interest. Read more>>

It was a struggle at first! Initially, my viewpoint was that people stereotyped artists as these grand personalities who are so confident in their work and that they came off as pretentious and egotistical. In response to that, I tried so hard to be as modest and “self-aware” as I could with a touch of self-deprecating humor. Read more>>

The confidence I have now is a result of both my upbringing and my willingness to take risks in my late teens and early 20s. Growing up, my parents consistently spoke highly of me, emphasizing my strengths rather than my struggles. They made me feel seen and validated, especially when it came to my talents and appearance. I heard things growing up like: “You are so beautiful,” “you are smart” (even though I was terrible at math), and “you can do whatever you want to do.” I know parents are supposed to say these things, but my parents went out of their way to create space for my dancing and encouraged me to pursue my creative endeavors. Until I began my healing journey 5+ years ago, my confidence and self-esteem felt very forced and inauthentic. I had all kinds of self-sabotaging thoughts that would cause me to shrink back and constantly be unsure of myself. And while I didn’t realize it at the time, I had almost zero concept of self-love and instead treated myself like sh*t — beating myself up, putting pressure on myself, and not taking care of myself. Today, I believe I can achieve anything that I set my mind towards. Though this is never a constant state of being, it takes practice to go from questioning daily to questioning occasionally. Its important to question whether we’re on the right path. What helped me develop the confidence to believe that I can achieve anything that I set my mind towards is striving for the initial goal that i cared for deeply – competing for Team USA. I am from a small town where a majority of people are both overweight and not college educated.  Read more>>

I have had multiple opportunities to build confidence in my life. The first real opportunity was in High School when I tried out and made Drum Major of my HS Band. To say I was a dark horse is probably an understatement. I was not very focused or much of a rules follower at that point in my life but that positive experience changed my perspective. The next opportunity was after college when I worked as a waiter at a large restaurant and started down the track of management. It was there that I really got a dose of confidence as what and how I was handling myself was getting noticed. I worked my way up the management chain to the second in command at the restaurant when life provided a path in a different direction and I left the restaurant business and started a career in the corporate life.  Read more>>
