We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maya Carolina. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maya below.
Maya, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I remind myself that creativity isn’t something I need to ‘keep’ or hold onto. It’s always there. It’s a living energy that flows when I stay open to the world around me: the people, the places, the moments that breathe life into my work. When I feel stuck or uninspired, stepping outside grounds me. The natural world offers endless inspiration when we pause to notice it. Similarly, my relationships with people fuel my creative energy. There’s something magical about sitting down for an honest conversation with someone. Vulnerability has a way of unlocking new perspectives and ideas. Creativity thrives in moments of human connection, where stories are shared, laughter flows, and you’re reminded that we’re all here to reflect, inspire, and learn from one another. All I have to do is stay present, stay curious, and let life flow through me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I work with passionate entrepreneurs, content creators, and small businesses to craft bold, cohesive, and authentic visual identities that stand out while deeply connecting with their audiences. My work combines the art of storytelling through photography and the strategy behind building a memorable brand. On the surface, I’m a brand photographer and creative strategist, but what truly inspires me is helping people translate who they are, both personally and professionally, into visuals and content that genuinely resonate.
Every client I work with is unique, and my approach reflects that. I take the time to understand the heart of their business – what drives them, what they value, and how they want to be seen by the world. For me, the most exciting part of my work is watching someone see themselves and their brand in a new light as a more confident and more capable business owner. Witnessing them share their story with the world and seeing how their audience responds is endlessly rewarding and reminds me why I love what I do.
As for what’s new, I’m excited to share that I’m expanding my brand and relocating to California! California’s beauty, energy, and spirit of innovation align perfectly with my approach to creativity and storytelling. I’m looking forward to connecting with California-based entrepreneurs, content creators, and small business owners who are ready to elevate their brand identity, align more deeply with their mission, and create lasting connections with their audiences.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three key qualities have been the most impactful in shaping my journey as a creative entrepreneur and brand photographer are adaptability, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving. My studies at Denison University, where I majored in Studio Art with a concentration in photography, played a pivotal role in developing these skills. As a liberal arts institution, Denison challenged me not only in art but also in humanities and science, exposing me to multiple ways of learning and thinking. This experience taught me to approach life and business with a sense of curiosity and adaptability. I learned to see challenges from different angles, which is invaluable in my work today.
For those who are early in their journey, my advice is to focus on building these skills by engaging with the people around you. Truly talk to people. Ask them about their likes and dislikes, their passions, and even their frustrations. Don’t shy away from conversations that feel uncomfortable or challenge your own beliefs. It’s in those moments of discomfort that growth happens. If you’re someone who finds it hard to connect or communicate with others, push yourself to start small. The ability to understand people, how they think, what they value, and what they need, is an invaluable skill, not just in business, but in life. Whether you’re navigating creative industries, launching your own brand, or simply trying to make meaningful connections, you’ll find that relationships are everything.
The more you push yourself to connect, listen, and adapt, the more you’ll develop the skills that are transferable across any industry, any business, and any path you choose to take.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely. I truly believe that creativity thrives in community. As I expand my business, Ever Brand Collective, and relocate to California, I’m looking to connect with other like-minded creatives and businesses who share a passion for innovation, storytelling, and helping entrepreneurs and creators thrive.
I’m especially eager to collaborate with boutique owners, web designers, marketing agencies, AI innovators, and other creative professionals whose expertise can complement the services I offer. My goal is to build a network of collaborators who can help me provide even more value to my clients, whether it’s designing a stunning website to pair with their personal brand photography, leveraging AI tools for smarter content creation, or co-creating strategic campaigns that spark curiosity and loyalty.
If you’re a creative professional, business owner, or entrepreneur based in California, particularly in Los Angeles, I’d love to connect and explore how we can create a ripple effect in the creative and entrepreneurial community to elevate not only our individual businesses but also the communities we serve. You can reach me through my website or social media, or send me an email directly at [email protected]. We need each other to grow, create, and innovate!
