Ignoring the Naysayers

Almost everything that’s changed the world in a positive way has been an unreasonable idea. It’s unreasonable, until it’s commons sense. That’s how change happens and so in order to make a difference in the world, it’s incredibly important to be able to ignore the naysayers. Some of the best and brightest from our community share their stories and advice below.

I do have haters and nay-sayers. Being a Laura Doyle Relationship Coach, I’ve heard it all. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

A year ago I posted an ad on Facebook. A conversation sparked with a therapist. She insulted my legitimacy, my training, and my character. Ouch! However, the “negative” interaction got important information out to the public. Read More>>

I just tell myself not to worry about it. I will always have something going on and another event to attend. If you don’t have people talking about you than your not relevant. Being an event photographer who works in media my face is always on the front lines. Despite haters trying to hold you back. I’m quite resourceful at finding ways to accomplish my goals.  Read More>>

I persist by constantly creating. Each day is a new opportunity to make a story that stems into adventures. Painting, coloring, writing, experiencing things both good and bad inspire me to keep going. No amount of people telling me that I’m not good enough will get me to stop creating.

I ignore them. At the end of the day, anything and everything you do is going to attract both positive and negative attention. I always push myself, and remind myself how far i’ve made it with all the work I’ve put into this project and passion that i’ve maintained for music. Sometimes people will tend to see the kind of music I mix and create, and they won’t necessarily understand or see the passion that I put into it, especially given that the culture surrounding electronic music is sometimes stereotyped by drugs and partying. Haters, nay-sayers, doubters and pouters always have the most to say and nothing to show. I sleep well at night knowing that I don’t have to depend on them to pay any of my bills and they can’t steal my joy. I know anyone doing well themselves will be spending time bettering their own life rather than spending time trying to talk down on mine.  Read More>>

For fourteen years of my life, I willingly put myself in front of thousands of people and asked them to judge me. My life as an actress was continuously putting myself in front of a panel or crowd and saying, “Here I am. Tell me the unedited version of exactly what you think of me.”
Needless to say, I have encountered all kinds of people during my time as an actress and convention panelist. Some who admire me, some who think I am kind.  Read More>>
