An Inspired Chat with Shasta McBride of Marin, Sonoma, Lake

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shasta McBride. Check out our conversation below.

Shasta, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
In the case of writing fiction, the answer is yes. The story I am currently finishing, a novel called Night Surfing, has taken many years, numerous iterations, and a personal growth process to bring it to the page. Even then, as writers know, it’s never truly finished, but rather laid to rest or abandoned.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, Bold Journey. My name is Shasta McBride, and I’m a writer, artist, and UX designer. My latest project is a novel coming out next year called Night Surfing. I’m excited because it’s the culmination of many years of creative work, combining my writing, photography, spiritual interests, and even a chocolate recipe book I’ve refined over the years.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Free and quiet.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
All the time. Creativity comes in cycles. Ideas and ways to show the ideas through fiction form over long periods of time. It feels like how the tide slowly etches ridges on the sea rocks.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Quiet contemplation, nature, beauty, love, friends, animals, the ocean.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes.
