Beating Burnout

Often the key to having massive impact is the ability to keep going when others would have burned out. Below, you’ll find some brilliant entrepreneurs and creatives sharing how they’ve overcome or avoided burnout.

When I finished university, I started developing my own stories in a more organized manner. I started doodling out and sketching my ideas instead of trying to push a complete artwork every single time. That helped me create a healthier relationship with my creative process. I stopped forcing myself and focused on fleshing out my ideas in different mediums so that I could later develop them on a bigger scale or project when I felt prepared to do so. Read More>>

Burnout usually hits me as insomnia, so that’s the first sign I look out for. When it gets bad, I do rely on sleeping pills, and I’ve stopped feeling ashamed about that—it’s just what I need sometimes to get through hard times. I also used to stay up working super late, which definitely made things worse. Now I try to cut that habit and give myself a real stopping point. Over the years, I’ve gotten better at listening to my body and knowing when to slow down. Meditating helps too—it gives my brain peace when it’s running on fumes. Read More>>

Balance truly is the key to life. In a world that constantly pushes us to go faster, do more, and achieve endlessly, it’s easy to get caught up in the grind. But the truth is, the harder you work, the more essential it becomes to intentionally create space for rest, recovery, and joy. Without that balance, burnout creeps in—and both your physical and mental health start to take a hit.

For me, the gym is more than just a place to work out—it’s a sanctuary. It’s where I go to release stress, reset mentally, and reconnect with myself. The physical benefits are amazing, sure, but it’s the mental clarity and rush of endorphins that really keep me coming back. There’s something powerful about pushing your limits, sweating it out, and walking out feeling stronger in every way. Read More>>

As a psychologist and coach, I talk a lot about burnout—how it shows up, what it feels like, and how it quietly chips away at our performance and well-being. But I’ve also had to learn, firsthand, how to avoid it myself. For me, avoiding burnout isn’t about achieving perfect balance—it’s about practicing consistency in the small things that protect my energy over time.

Rest is foundational. A good night’s sleep changes everything—how I think, how I lead, how I respond to stress. I’ve learned that I’m not at my best when I’m running on empty, and no amount of caffeine or productivity hacks can replace being well-rested. Read More>>

I didn’t—at least not right away. I believed working hard was just what a real business owner did. Early mornings, late nights, wearing all the hats… it felt like the necessary price of building a business I could be proud of.

But over time, the hustle took a toll. I was constantly busy, but not actually moving the needle. I’d spend hours tweaking copy, chasing team updates, double-checking things that should’ve been done right the first time—none of which needed my brain, my energy, or honestly, me. Read More>>

One of the things that keeps both of us grounded and grateful is consistently making time for ourselves—usually in the mornings right after we wake up or at night before going to bed. Taking a few minutes for meditation, journaling, writing affirmations, listing three things we’re grateful for, reading a bit, and doing our devotional helps us reconnect and stay centered. These are simple, free practices that we’ve been doing for a long time, and they truly make a difference. Physical exercise is another key practice that supports our mental and emotional well-being.
