Ignoring the Naysayers

Almost everything that’s changed the world in a positive way has been an unreasonable idea. It’s unreasonable, until it’s commons sense. That’s how change happens and so in order to make a difference in the world, it’s incredibly important to be able to ignore the naysayers. Some of the best and brightest from our community share their stories and advice below.

I have realized in life that not everyone will like you. I grew up always trying to be the nice girl and hoped that everyone would like me. But at some point, you realize that not everyone is going to be a fan of yours. Some people in life will downright want you to fail. And by fail, I mean fail miserably and flat on your face. I have realized that as painful as that might be, I’m not living my life for those people. I’m a kind person and I truly want the best for everyone. I want to cheer others on and help support the fellow dreamers out in the world. With one life guaranteed, I have made my decision on what I would like to spend it doing, and no one should feel they have the right to tell others what they can or can’t do. Not everybody has the same dream, but as Alan Watts once said, “It’s better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing, than a long life spent in a miserable way.” No matter what we do, there will always be those who say we aren’t on the right path, and the only way to prove them wrong is to see it through to the end.  Read more>>

Haters are a part of life, no matter if you’re staying quiet in your own bubble or boldly chasing your dreams. Someone will always have something to say about how or why you do things, and honestly, you can’t control that. I always remind people: you can’t control others’ opinions, but you can absolutely control your reaction. Before you’ve fully healed and found confidence in yourself, those negative voices can feel like a heavy burden. It’s tough, but here’s the truth—haters often see potential in you that you don’t even recognize yet. Read more>>
