Meet Alec Ruland

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alec Ruland. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alec, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

One way I avoid burnout is to start with making a consistent schedule that helps me time manage my free time. When I know exactly what needs to be done for the day it gives me purpose and focus. Another way I overcome burnout is by staying active outside of the office. It is so easy to simply go home and do nothing but instead I try to plan activities for my family and I, such as walking around the neighborhood or playing pickleball, to keep us moving. One of my biggest motivations which helps me from getting burnt out are my patients. The main reason I wanted to be a Chiropractor was to help others and see them improve their health and overall quality of life. Knowing that I am making a difference in other people’s lives every day keeps me driven.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

ChiroPlus Hudson Oaks has been open for about five years now and it’s been a wonderful experience. I was blessed to be born into a Chiropractic family. My whole life I have been treated with Chiropractic care. It has helped me with success in school as well as my performance in many different sports. Not only did Chiropractic help me perform at my best, anytime I had an injury I was able to recover quickly and get back to playing at my full potential.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I stay up to date with the latest research and technology so that his patients get the most effective care and treatment. I attend seminars to continue my education. I am eager to promote health in the community and enjoy doing health talks and health events for all businesses and schools to educate them on the benefits of Chiropractic and how they can stay healthy outside of the office. Advice I would give is to keep your mental and physical health strong, practice good time management which allows you to take time for yourself to do the things you enjoy, and build relationships with people who are successful and who have similar goals that you have.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

When I was a sophomore in high school I began working at my dad’s Chiropractic clinic and learned more about the benefits of Chiropractic care from patient testimonials in the office. I heard a lot of success stories from patients who had been under consistent Chiropractic care. I knew that someday I wanted to help and educate patients so I could also positively change the lives of so many people. Seeing both of my parents working in the clinic and seeing their passion to help others motivated me to want to be like them. They always support everything I do, inside and out of the office, helping me grow as an individual.
