Meet Charity Dent

We recently connected with Charity Dent and have shared our conversation below.

Charity, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

When I was in the first grade, I started to experience bullying. It lasted until 4th grade but I was still dealing with my insecurities. From high school until now my confidence and self esteem has grown tremendously and I give thanks to God. I’ve been learning what I like and don’t like but also want I love about me. The parts I love about me make me love my flaws more. I’ve been learning to do things I want to do and not let anyone dictate my life decisions. That’s really what’s been helping me more with my confidence.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Firstly, I am a musician and minister of music. I’ve been playing drums since I was 12 years old. That led me into music ministry and musical direction.

I am the owner of HighBrilliance Innovations. It’s an agency where I offer graphic design, photography, videography, marketing, branding, musical & creative direction services.

Lastly, I’ve embarked on a new career path in music & sports journalism. I recently created the HighBrilliance Media Journal where I talk about different things in sports and music but also use media (photography/videography/graphic design) to bring exposure to different musicians, artist, and athletes.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have are most impactful even now would have to be: confidence, creativity, and consistency. It’s not easy at all but you keep pushing through it. I love being creative so trying to find new ideas and new things to try helps with creative block. Confidence and consistency are two things you have to work towards. It doesn’t happen over night but that starts with confidence. Whatever skill you’re learning or wanting to get better at first takes patience. If you’re good at something, be good at it. Don’t be afraid to show others how good you are either. The one thing I’ve learned about consistency is, whether it’s 30% or 100%, long as it’s not 0% you’re consistent. We have good days and bad days. That 30% day will prepare you for that 100% day and vice versa. Long as you keep going and giving all you’ve got everyday is all that matters.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

An ideal client for me is just someone who is ready to work. Even if they don’t exactly have a vision, they know they want to create something or bring something to life. My job is to simply help them, but as long as they come ready and willing, we can make it work.
