We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Farrah Hodgson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Farrah, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
In 2011 I had a tumor on my spine, I found out after I was pregnant with my youngest daughter. The Pain was unbearable to the point whereas a single mother of five I couldn’t take care of my kids. So I had to do surgery, but they hit a motor nerve and I became paralyzed from waist down for a couple years. While in that season, I surrendered to God and gained a relationship with him. I definitely needed his supernatural Strength, HE BECAME MY HEALER AND DELIVER. He then revealed to me my Purpose, which was to become a published author, then that open the door to so many platforms of Prosperity. I knew it was only GOD because I was a high school dropout, an ex exotic dancer, and I had a long history of loving the wrong men that distracted me from Who GOD created me to be. With all that action-packed dramatic life, I definitely didn’t like reading books. But I know now those crazy things were all for a purpose. Those things gave me content for all my books. I pushed past my comfort zone and took a leap of faith in 2016 and went into full-time ministry and became a published author of six books. I am NOW the CEO OF DAUGHTER OF THE KING PUBLISHING. I am so passionate about people sharing their testimonies because when I decided to put my pain to paper, it gave me hope and transformed my life for the better.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Daughter of the King Publishing is a Publishing company that offers authors options for print-on-demand publishing, e-publishing, coaching, and marketing strategies for their written works. We are able to help People share their stories and take their writing to the next level by publishing and using their book as a platform to venture into other opportunities. We cultivate your stories of inspiration to share to people of all ages globally. Daughter of the King Publishing has built opportunities for people who do not easily have access or resources due to their busy schedules of being Parents, Scholars, full-time workers and business owners. With your gifts and talents we are confident we can help you pursue your Purpose. Daughter of the King Publishing takes 95% of the hard work of writing to become published author off your plate. I have a team of ghost writers, graphic designers, editors and administrators. I am proud of myself because I basically started from zero, I built my own foundation. I have been through so much so I can relate to all my clients to know that this will definitely take their life to another level. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My losses in life were never wasted but were life lessons for better knowledge and stepping stones to reach higher levels #schoolofthehardknocks The fact that I can literally say I have experienced it all, the highs and lows of life. So I am very relatable to my clients that are authors that also have a story to tell to reach more people to help them overcome the trials, trauma, obstacles that one/ many go through in these days and times we are now living in.
Never give up just take your life lessons as content for your books or speaking engagements
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
I need to balance my time because of the fact that I am a single mother of five and now a grandmother of two so I have to start charging for consultation calls because my time is valuable. I also had to raise my prices to have better quality team members Because of the economy right now, my team members need better pay or else they wouldn’t be fully invested for the demand and needs that my clients have. I realize the niche that a publishing company attracts – authors, many of the clients are broken and have gone through trauma so they are very sensitive and require a lot of time to release all the toxic things that they’ve been through. It’s very therapeutic to release and write there pain to paper, so my team and I have to be very supportive which takes a lot of time but also Have to keep in consideration, we have families and a home to provide for
