Meet Gabby Abascal

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gabby Abascal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gabby, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

Being in the field of self-care, it is so important to me to practice what I preach. It is important that I take care of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. It helps me show up fully for others in my personal and work life. Making time to take care of me helps prevent burnout and stress, maintains a healthy work-life balance, and helps me refocus.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I provide advanced skin therapies, facials and one-on-one personalized skin coaching in the Inland Empire. I am a Licensed Esthetician and Massage Therapist, and I integrate both modalities into every treatment to create result driven facials with a spa like experience. I specialize in acne, age management and hyperpigmentation treatments and enjoy helping my clients regain their confidence through their skin transformations. As a woman who suffered from acne throughout my teens and young adulthood and now an aging esthetician, my favorite part of my job is when clients see the dramatic change in their skin upon starting treatments and continuing with home care.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

For me, both personally and professionally, value, integrity, and purpose is everything. My business and my brand is a representation of everything I stand for. When people hear my name I want them to immediately think – quality and value. I do not believe you need to sacrifice one for the other, with me you can experience it both.

For anyone starting out I recommend spending some time on reflecting what qualities are important to them and how they integrate those qualities into their brand.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Being in business now for over 5 years I am very well familiar with the feeling of overwhelm. But I have also become more aware of my mental health. Nowadays I am constantly checking in with myself and how I am feeling, and most importantly honoring what I am feeling. And when I am feeling uneasy and overwhelmed I stop, I don’t pivot, I dont step on the gas – I stop. One important thing I have learned over the years is that community is strong and loyal, they will be there whether you show up or not.
