Meet Jeremy Lamb

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeremy Lamb a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeremy, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

In High School, I was a state-bound track and field athlete, as well as one year in college. I served 6 years in the Army National Guard as well.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I own a digital marketing agency, Blacklight Group. We are a full service digital marketing & advertising agency that does everything online marketing – website development, SEO, to digital advertising, content creation, videography, social media management, branding. email marketing, and graphic design.

I am passionate about my business because our whole mission is to be a breath of fresh air in the marketing industry. Many marketing agencies today have downright exploitative business practices. A few examples I can think of are
– Long-term, binding contracts that their clients have to pay their way out of if they’re unhappy.
– Assets being held hostage: social media accounts, websites, and ad accounts not being handed over when their clients want to leave
– Lack of communication & transparency. Many marketing companies do not keep their clients updated on strategy and where their marketing and advertising dollars are going.
– Lack of Results: many agencies take on clients, collect monthly retainers, and don’t deliver results.

Blacklight Group does it differently.

We DON’T Hold our clients to long term contracts, we offer them month to month.
We DON’T Hold your assets hostage. What we make you is yours.
We DON’T leave you hanging. We meet with you regularly and provide you with transparent updates on where every cent your marketing & advertising dollars are going.
We DO offer performance based payment models that align our clients interests with our own and incentivize us to perform.

I am so passionate about what we do because we are a breath of fresh air in an industry that is broken and out-dated.

We do month to month

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My corporate experience was definitely a game changer. Before I started my entrepreneurial journey, I worked in corporate agencies for 2 years and got tons of advertising experience under my belt. I was able to work in a large variety of industries with a wide variety of budgets. While working in corporate agencies, I was able to manage small advertising budgets of less than $5,000 for mom and pop home services companies and large budgets of hundreds of thousands for large corporate clients.

My biggest piece of advice for young entrepreneurs and people early on in their journey is to get as much relevant experience as possible and always continue to learn.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

When I was 19 and just starting my journey into personal development, I read a book called “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield. This book changed the course of my life.

This book taught me how to set and achieve goals, visualize and manifest, and become the personal I want to be.

The biggest piece of advice I can pull from this book is to take 100% Accountability for your life. You are where you are because of your actions and reactions. When you take 100% responsibility for your life, you can take 100% responsibility for changing it and getting to where you want to be.
