Meet Jordan Canova

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jordan Canova a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Building my confidence and self-esteem is an ongoing journey for me. Understanding the difference between the two was life changing for me.

My confidence is impacted differently in every season depending on outside factors in both my personal and professional life. I actively work on my confidence by keeping the promises I make to myself which has helped me build a lot of trust within myself. However, I focus more heavily on increasing my self-esteem by practicing routines daily to pour into myself. Implementing a structured morning routine, journaling, and therapy are ways that I am actively increasing my self-esteem. I released a digital confidence course, The Fundamentals of Confidence, as a way to teach women the difference between confidence and self-esteem, while giving them tools to shift their mindset and build healthier habits by incorporating knowledge through science backed research, exercises, personal experiences.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My mission is so empower women to becoming the most confident versions of themselves and embrace being multifaceted. This mission is reflected in everything I do. I launched my female empowerment company, More Than, with the goal of inspiring, educating, empowering, and connecting multifaceted women in a way I hadn’t seen done before. I wanted to create a safe space that allowed women to connect and grow through hearing other women share their journeys. On the More Than Podcast, I showcase how our guests are so much more than what you may know them as. We discuss mental health, health & wellness, and confidence in hopes their success and struggles can resonate with our listeners. Most recently, I launched a digital confidence course, The Fundamentals of Confidence, to give our community a manual to becoming the most confident versions of themselves to ultimately take control of their lives.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Hands down the most beneficial thing I’ve done in my life is gain extreme self awareness. Learning to understand yourself, why you think, act, react the way you do is going to serve you in both your personal and professional life. For me, I invested heavily on improving my mental health through therapy and it’s positively impacted every area of my life since. Self awareness is a skill that many people don’t possess, but the people who do make for powerful and confident leaders.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I believe you’re most qualified to help the person you once were. I’ve struggled with my mental health most of my life, my anxiety has caused physical symptoms, but for far too long I hid my struggles thinking it was a weakness. When I was at the height of my modeling career in NYC, my anxiety reached an all time high and became debilitating. After much resistance, I signed up for therapy a dedicated a year to my mental health. Once I began opening up to others, I realized how many of us are suffering in silence. So many of us carry our insecurities or our weaknesses as a secret, but I learned once that secret is shared it looses its power. I’ve decided to be as vulnerable as I can in my business and on my podcast because I want our community to understand they aren’t alone. I’ve done extensive work on myself and continue to every day, which allows me to help younger women navigating similar struggles as I once did. Through my experience, looking within and picturing the best version of myself has always been a guiding model for me.
