We were lucky to catch up with Karen Deloach recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Karen, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
I am a creativity specialist: artist, art mentor, speaker, author, actor, filmmaker and coach.
I teach a group of rescued, Ugandan youths in a class for filmmaking. They each have incredible stories to tell, that the world needs to know. We just had the premiere of our second movie together. (Check out Righteous of God International Church on FB)
Seeing these young people grow in their confidence as they work together successfully on a project together, while building trust and boldness has been shear joy! I knew it was going to be a good thing to do, but I had no clue what a difference our once a week class ( with iffy internet ) could make. I love doing it, and I love them! The passion I have to share the healing power of the Arts fuels generosity and inspires me to keep going.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
We are all creatives: we were born that way!! It’s never too late, and we’re not too old to explore the deep areas of wisdom-inducing experiences longing to be expressed! Albert Einstein said, “Creativity is Intelligence having fun”.
I would love to share some of my stories and experience with your amazing audience about the healing power of art.
NeuroArts Scientists have done studies to prove it only takes about 20 minutes a day of engaging in creative activities to ignite and develop our right brain brilliance and release the happiness chemical: Serotonin.
The redemptive power of the arts helps those struggling with the fear of AI job-takeover, and those who are longing to find their own brilliant creative voice. Stirring-up dormant, right-brain creativity, brings deep joy and a satisfying sense of wellbeing.
Our creativity helps us express our humanity, which separates us from the onslaught of AI technology. To overcome the fear of job redundancy or irrelevance: I can show how AI can’t replace our imaginative right brains!!
It pays HUGE dividends to be creative!
I have had successful workshops for corporate gatherings, to help facilitate more creative problem-solving.
My program is called Art as Self-Therapy: Wellness Through Creativity.
I have put together a free 3 episode pop-up podcast to help your audience to easily tap into their creativity to feel an upswing in emotional and mental wellness. Just go to www.getcreativewithkaren.com

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Perseverance: getting back up after failure… repeatedly,
Humility: recognizing that there are always others who are better than me that I can learn from and confidence: the training, skills and abilities I have fostered for decades have proven to be valuable to others.
The best advice I have for those trying new things, is to give yourself the same grace you would give to other beginners and create a safe, no-criticism zone to practice in.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Bible
As a Believer, I have found in this Book wisdom, advice, comfort, solace, hope, patience, perfect love and a peace that passes all understanding. There is no better book ever written. It is has proven to be a living source for all this and more for over 50 years now. I discovered my Savior in these pages.
My artistic nature and personality have caused me to resist and reject religion. But it has helped me to embrace the Creator and all He has to give us, His children.
