Meet Nick Scacco

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nick Scacco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Nick with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Sports have profoundly shaped my work ethic, particularly my experiences with wrestling. As a teenager, I dedicated myself to the sport, which demanded an immense level of discipline and perseverance. Training for wrestling wasn’t just an after-school activity; it became a central part of my daily routine.

Every morning, I would wake up before dawn to train. The house would be still and dark, and the world outside was quiet, but I was already up and pushing myself to be better. This early morning training instilled in me a sense of discipline that has carried over into every aspect of my life. The consistency required to show up every day, no matter how tired I felt, taught me the value of commitment and hard work.

Practices were grueling and intense, pushing me to my limits both physically and mentally. The pain and fatigue were constant companions, but they were also reminders of my dedication. Wrestling taught me to embrace challenges and to see them as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. This mindset has been crucial in my career, especially when facing setbacks or pursuing ambitious goals.

Summers spent at wrestling camps were another formative experience. These camps were not just about improving techniques but also about building mental toughness and resilience. Being surrounded by other dedicated athletes created an environment of mutual motivation and support. We pushed each other to new heights, and that camaraderie and shared drive have stayed with me.

The discipline, perseverance, and resilience I developed through wrestling have become the foundation of my work ethic. They have influenced how I approach my art, teaching, and entrepreneurial ventures. Whether I’m creating a new piece of art, developing educational content, or managing my business, the lessons learned from wrestling guide me. I know that success comes from consistent effort, embracing challenges, and pushing beyond my comfort zone.

In essence, wrestling taught me that hard work and dedication can turn any goal into reality. That lesson has been invaluable, and I carry it with me in everything I do.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an artist and educator based in San Diego, California, with a deep passion for creating and sharing art that connects with people on a personal level. My work spans various forms, including nursery wall art prints, travel and wildlife nature art for home decor, and clothing featuring my designs. I also teach life science and Biology, blending my love for art and science to inspire and educate my students.

What excites me most about my work is the ability to transform spaces and bring joy to people’s lives through my art. Each piece I create is a labor of love, inspired by the beauty of nature and the world around us. I take great pride in knowing that my art can make a baby’s nursery feel more welcoming, a living room more vibrant, or someone’s wardrobe more unique.

The journey of my brand has been incredibly fulfilling. It all started with selling art prints on Etsy, where I connected with customers who appreciated my work. As demand grew, I expanded my reach by finding international art printing providers. This allowed me to ensure high-quality prints for my customers, no matter where they were located.

Creating my own website was a significant milestone. It gave me a dedicated space to showcase my art and tell my story. Navigating wholesale deals was another exciting step, as it opened doors to new opportunities and partnerships, allowing my art to reach even more people.

One of the most thrilling developments has been expanding my product line to include clothing based on my designs. Seeing my art come to life on apparel has been incredibly rewarding. It allows people to carry a piece of my creativity with them wherever they go, blending art and fashion in a way that feels both personal and expressive.

Looking ahead, I am excited about continuing to grow my brand and exploring new creative avenues. I am working on new collections, both for home decor and clothing, and am constantly inspired by the feedback and support from my community.

My art is not just about creating beautiful pieces; it’s about connecting with people and making a positive impact on their lives. Whether through a print that brightens a room or a piece of clothing that makes someone feel unique, my goal is to bring a little more joy and inspiration into the world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, there are three key qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey as an artist and entrepreneur: trusting my gut instincts, being open to trying even if I might fail, and breaking things into step-by-step processes for continuous improvement.

First and foremost, trusting my gut instincts has been crucial. Whether it was choosing which art pieces to create, deciding to expand my product line, or selecting business partners, my intuition has often guided me in the right direction. There’s a certain level of confidence and clarity that comes from listening to your inner voice. It helps you stay true to your vision and make decisions that align with your core values and goals.

Being open to trying, even with the risk of failure, has also been a significant factor in my success. The journey of building a brand is filled with uncertainties and challenges. Embracing the possibility of failure as a learning opportunity has allowed me to take bold steps, experiment with new ideas, and innovate in ways I might not have otherwise considered. Each setback has provided valuable lessons, ultimately contributing to my growth and resilience.

Finally, breaking tasks into step-by-step processes has been incredibly effective in managing and improving my work. By deconstructing complex projects into manageable steps, I can focus on each part, refine my methods, and make continuous improvements. This approach has been particularly helpful in both my art and business operations, from perfecting my designs to streamlining production processes and enhancing customer experience.

These three qualities—trusting my instincts, embracing the potential for failure, and methodically improving through step-by-step processes—have collectively shaped my journey. They have enabled me to navigate the complexities of the art world and build a brand that resonates with people, continually evolving and growing along the way.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely, I am always open to partnering or collaborating with like-minded individuals and businesses. Collaboration has the power to bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and new opportunities, and I am excited about the potential for creating something truly special together.

I am particularly interested in collaborating with other artists, designers, and creators who share a passion for nature-inspired art and design. Individuals who have a unique artistic vision and a commitment to quality would mesh well with my business. Additionally, I am looking for partnerships with eco-friendly brands and companies that prioritize sustainability, as this aligns with my values and the direction I want my brand to take.

Retailers and boutique shop owners who appreciate unique, handcrafted art and are looking to offer their customers something distinctive would also be ideal collaborators. I am excited about the possibility of expanding my reach through wholesale partnerships and bringing my art to new audiences.

Moreover, I am interested in working with content creators, bloggers, and influencers who resonate with my work and can help share my story and products with a broader audience. Those who are passionate about art, home decor, and fashion, and who have a genuine connection with their followers, would be perfect partners.
