Meet Rachel C

We recently connected with Rachel C and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Sometimes purpose doesn’t arrive like lightning, it arrives through loss.
For me, that turning point was the death of my mother. Grief has a way of stripping everything down and forcing you to ask the questions you’ve been avoiding: Who am I? What actually matters? What needs to change?
I knew I couldn’t keep living the same way, so I began searching. That search led me to Reiki, and through Reiki, I found my purpose.
My work is about helping people reclaim their power. The power to question the narratives that define them, the stories about who they’re supposed to be, what spaces do they want to show up in, and how much space do they want to fill.
I believe my purpose, my dharma, is not to hand people answers, but to hold up a mirror. To create space for people who are willing to look deeply at themselves. To ask the questions so they can find their own truth.
I don’t hold the answers, I hold the mirror.
I remind people that they have the power to choose: to change, to grow, to let go, to begin again. That it’s okay to squirm, to cry, to rage, to unravel, and then, when the storm settles, to consciously decide how they want to move forward.
I guide that process through Reiki, breathwork, movement, play, music, and creative expression, because healing doesn’t only happen in stillness; sometimes it happens in dance, in laughter, in the messy middle.
Before I could guide others, I had to walk through it myself. I spent years moving through grief, anger, and cycles that felt endless before realizing I was holding onto narratives that kept me small, isolated, and disconnected.
Six years later, I’m still doing that work. I think we always are.
Healing isn’t a finish line, it’s a relationship. And my purpose is to keep showing up for that relationship: for myself, for my community, and for the people I’m honored to hold space for.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I help people come home to themselves.
My work lives at the intersection of Reiki, breathwork, yoga, mindfulness, and creative expression. I’m a Reiki Master, Breath Guide, yoga teacher, artist, and space-holder for people who are ready to reconnect with their bodies, their intuition, and their authentic creative selves.
At the heart of everything I do is nervous system healing and personal empowerment. I believe healing isn’t about becoming someone new, it’s about remembering who you were before the world told you to be smaller.
Through Reiki certifications, private sessions, somatic movement, breathwork practices, workshops, and community gatherings, I create spaces where people can soften, listen, release, and rebuild trust with themselves. Sometimes that looks like stillness. Sometimes it looks like movement, laughter, tears, music, or messy creative play. Healing is rarely linear. It’s alive, human, and deeply personal.
What feels most special about my work is that I don’t position myself as someone with all the answers. I’m not here to “fix” anyone. I hold up the mirror. I help people ask better questions, trust their own inner wisdom, and remember that they have the power to choose how they move forward.
I’m especially passionate about building community, creating spaces where people feel brave enough to be seen and supported while they grow. My goal is to cultivate a community of people who are learning to listen to their bodies, honor their truth, and take aligned action in their lives.
Right now, I’m expanding that work through Reiki trainings, monthly healing events, and collaborative wellness experiences. I have upcoming Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 certification classes, my Rooted in Joy community experience, and both in-person and virtual offerings for people near and far. I want healing to feel accessible, grounded, and sustainable. Not something reserved for a select few.
Whether someone finds me through Reiki, yoga, art, or breathwork, the invitation is always the same: slow down, come back to yourself, and remember your power.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful things in my journey were self-awareness, curiosity, and the courage to be seen.
First, self-awareness. Healing begins when you slow down enough to listen to your body, your emotions, your patterns, and the stories you keep repeating. I had to ask myself, “Is this true? Is this mine? Do I really believe that?” That honesty changed everything.
Second, curiosity. Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with me?” I learned to ask, “What question should I be asking to gain clarity or a different perspective?” Curiosity creates compassion and opens doors that shame keeps shut. It allowed me to explore Reiki, breathwork, yoga, and mindfulness with openness instead of fear.
Third, the courage to be seen. Teaching, creating, and building community all require vulnerability. You have to be willing to be imperfect in public and let people witness your growth while it’s still messy. That’s where real connection lives.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple: stop waiting to feel ready. Start where you are.
Create small daily practices that bring you back to yourself. Let consistency matter more than perfection. Find teachers and communities that remind you of your power, not your lack.
Most importantly, trust that growth often looks like discomfort before it looks like clarity. Stay with it. That’s where transformation begins. You got this! And when in doubt ask for help!

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

If I knew I only had a decade left, I think I would live with far less hesitation and a lot more devotion.
I would make all of my offerings donation-based or sliding scale because access would matter more to me. I’d want to reach as many people as possible, to help people reconnect with themselves, heal, and remember their power without finances being the reason they stayed away.
I wouldn’t hold back. I would go bigger, speak louder, create more, and stop being afraid of failure or rejection. No more waiting for the “right time.” I’d trust the mission more than my fear.
I would continue doing my work wherever I went, but I would also travel with my wife, spend time with the people I love, and collect experiences instead of excuses. More sunsets, more deep conversations, more laughter around tables of food, more memories that actually matter.
And in my final two years, I think I’d become much quieter.
Less producing, less proving & just being.
I’d spend that time with my small circle of people, not working, but fully living. Cooking good food, sharing slow mornings, receiving and giving love freely, and letting joy be enough.
In the end, I think I’d want my life to feel less like a performance and more like presence. Less about what I built, and more about how deeply I loved.
