Meet Rick McNeely

We recently connected with Rick McNeely and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Rick with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get it from my hard working parents. They told me that the value of hard work will pay off if I stick with my plan. And plan accordingly . The future has no favors, so make it on your own.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Rick McNeely. I am a radio DJ, TV host and I create holidays. Yes, you can own and create a holiday and promote the observance. I own over 20 holidays to date. My biggest creation is National Selfie Day June 21. I also created and own the following-
National BBQ Day May 16
National Brisket Day May 28
National Hamburger Day May 28
National Hip Hop Day Aug 11
National Video Game Day July 8

I am also know as the ‘Holiday Guy” since I have many celebrations under my belt. My life revolves around entertainment.

My radio show is called Alley Rally. We broadcast on the Fishbowl Radio Network in Bedford TX. I’m a 15 year award winning radio host. I’ve won , radio DJ of the year(2018) and radio show of the year. (2021). Find my show at 1pm CST at fbrn.us
I have a degree in radio TV and film from Tarrant County College, class of 2014. I love media!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Determination

Experience

and Training.

Ask questions, find the answer and learn from your failures. If you win at everything, you won’t learn anything. Take a chance, make a move and think about it.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Partnership- Find people that invest in your goals. You can’t do this journey alone, you will need a team. Either support, emotional or financial, you need a team that sticks with you. Don’t burn out. Take time for yourself and get back on the grind.
