Meet Stells Di Rossi Hurst

We recently connected with Stells Di Rossi Hurst and have shared our conversation below.

Stells, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I built my self-esteem as a plus-size woman of color in the rock ‘n’ roll world by learning to embrace every part of who I am and refusing to let society define my worth. In a space where racism, sexism, and impossible beauty standards are deeply rooted, I knew I had to be stronger than the limitations placed on me. I chose to honor my authenticity, believing that my talent, my voice, and my passion were more powerful than the boxes the world tried to put me in.

It wasn’t always easy. I’ve faced judgment and discrimination, but I learned that self-love is my greatest act of defiance. By loving myself unapologetically, I started to see my body and identity as sources of strength, not obstacles. Music became my outlet to share my truth, to stand up for who I am, and to challenge the stereotypes that so often silence women like me.

I realized that breaking through these barriers wasn’t just about me. It was about showing others that no matter where you come from or what you look like, you deserve to take up space. I’ve used my platform to promote body positivity and fight for inclusivity because I want everyone to feel seen and valued.

By staying true to myself, I broke through the glass ceiling of an industry that wasn’t built for people like me. But I didn’t just break through for myself—I did it for anyone who’s ever felt like they don’t belong. And if my journey can inspire others to embrace their own strength, then I know I’ve made an impact.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

As the Creative Director and Head Engineer at RHMedia, my work blends creativity and advocacy. My art and fashion design reflect a deep commitment to self-expression, while my role as a plus-size model and body positivity advocate challenges beauty standards and celebrates all bodies.

I’m passionate about ending social and creative apartheid, using my platform to break down barriers that divide us by race, gender, and status. Through my art, media, and podcast, I aim to unite people and help humanity heal. I’m not just an artist—I’m a bard, using creativity to bring people together and spark change.. That’s what Bards do, bring humanity together with art by telling humanity’s story with it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, self-love, and empathy.

Resilience was my armor against the racism, body shaming, and chauvinism that constantly tried to hold me back. To anyone starting their journey, I’d say: never let the world define your worth. Keep pushing forward, even when the path seems impossible.

Self-love has been my power. I learned to embrace who I am, unapologetically. My advice is to honor your uniqueness and let that be the fuel that drives you forward.

And empathy—especially for myself—was key. It allowed me to be kind to my own journey, despite the struggles. Lead with compassion, and you’ll find strength not just for yourself, but for others who need it too. Your voice matters, and with resilience, love, and empathy, you can rise above any barrier or obstacle as long as you are willing to commit to your passions you just have to stay educated, evolved and informed while sticking to your commitment.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

One book that profoundly shaped me is *The Four Agreements* by Don Miguel Ruiz. **”Be impeccable with your word”** taught me the power of using my voice to uplift, speak truth, and create change, especially in a world that often tries to silence people like me.

**”Always do your best”** reminded me to show up fully, knowing that perfection isn’t the goal—effort and intention are. This wisdom has carried me through countless challenges, allowing me to trust that my best is enough, no matter what. These lessons helped me find strength in my voice and resilience in my journey.
