Finding Strength in Faith: My Journey Through Healing
Throughout my life, I have experienced profound trauma—leaving me to navigate the complexities of healing from PTSD, depression, and social anxiety. Facing these challenges head-on has been essential in my journey toward recovery, teaching me that true healing comes from confronting the past with courage and resilience.
What has kept me persistent in overcoming these struggles is my deepening spirituality. Leaning on God, strengthening my faith, and trusting in His grace has been my anchor through life’s adversities. Each obstacle I have faced has reminded me that if I have overcome hardships before, I can certainly do it again—with the strength and guidance of God.
Healing is not a linear path, but faith has given me the assurance that I am never alone in the process. No matter how difficult the road may seem, I walk forward knowing that grace, resilience, and divine strength will always carry me through.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
HerStoryInASmile is a movement dedicated to Women Trauma Survivors , providing a safe digital space where they can reclaim their voices, share their stories, and speak their truths unapologetically.
The movement began with the powerful question:
“What’s behind her smile?”—challenging the idea that a woman’s outward expression always reflects her inner reality.
Through storytelling, advocacy, and community-building, HerStoryInASmile fosters visibility on women’s trauma and mental health, encouraging healing and empowerment.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Empathy, creativity, and open-mindedness have been essential in overcoming challenges and fostering growth. Empathy strengthens connections and support, creativity fuels problem-solving and innovation, and open-mindedness allows continuous learning and adaptability. To develop these skills, practice active listening, embrace diverse perspectives, and engage in new experiences with curiosity. Each quality builds resilience and enhances personal and professional growth.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Most recently, the book Forgiving What You Can’t Forget by Lysa TerKeurst has played a significant role in my healing journey. I truly believe that healing should be approached holistically—addressing not just the physical or emotional, but the spiritual as well. This book has helped me embrace new perspectives with an open mind, especially around the concept of forgiveness, which I once found difficult to fully understand. It has also deepened my connection with God, which continues to be a guiding force in my growth.
