Hi Vicki, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose through a profound, life-changing experience. After complications during the birth of my first son, I had a near-death experience where I saw Jesus and died on the table. During the three minutes of resuscitation, I had a vision, I was at the gates of a heavenly place, surrounded by the most beautiful flowers. I remember pleading to be let in, but I was told, “No, not yet. Your work on Earth is not done. You need to go back and give an opportunity to those who are often overlooked. Take care of them, and I will take care of you.”
Waking up to my mother’s tearful relief, I reassured her, saying that I couldn’t be taken yet, as God still had a plan for me. That moment was a turning point. It instilled in me a deep sense of purpose and determination, despite knowing the path ahead would be challenging. It was clear to me that my life’s work was to support and uplift those who lack opportunities, guided by unshakeable faith and resilience against all odds. This experience has been the cornerstone of my journey, constantly reminding me of the importance of my mission to help others.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In my diverse role as a speaker, author, and coach, I am committed to fostering personal and professional growth. My coaching is designed to help individuals find and fulfill their purpose, leading them towards comprehensive personal and career development. I also provide invaluable support to small business owners, equipping them with tools to enhance their brand and profitability. My approach is anchored in the belief that every individual and business has the potential to not just meet, but far exceed their goals. This philosophy is at the heart of the variety of services I offer, including individual and group coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements. These are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, ensuring a personalized path to success.
A significant aspect of my services is the show “Strategic Minds: Making Money Moves,” where I interview small business owners. This platform allows them to highlight their businesses and discuss the challenges they face. In each episode, I provide tailored insights and strategies to address their specific issues, helping them effectively navigate the complexities of their business environments. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In my professional journey, the key to growth has been understanding the ‘WIIFM’ (What’s In It For Me) factor, which I liken to tuning into a personal radio station. It’s about realizing that everyone views situations from their unique lens, influenced by their experiences and often driven by self-preservation. Recognizing this has been crucial in empathizing with others and not taking disagreements personally. Additionally, embracing the concept of FAIL as ‘First Attempt In Learning’ has transformed my approach to setbacks, viewing each failure as a valuable lesson rather than a defeat. This perspective, combined with the practice of taking calculated risks, has been instrumental in my development. These risks, when carefully evaluated, have added new tools to my professional toolbox, preparing me for future challenges. Overall, these insights have shaped my approach to both personal and professional interactions, fostering a mindset that values understanding, learning from failure, and strategic risk-taking.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is a leader who embodies commitment, motivation, and a willingness to engage deeply in their personal and professional development. This includes CEOs of small businesses who are dedicated to their company’s growth and are open to exploring innovative strategies for business enhancement and profitability.
Such leaders are not just committed to their own growth but are also prepared to think outside the box, considering both the known and the unknown factors that impact their career trajectory. They understand the importance of reading between the lines and recognizing the unspoken elements in their professional environments.
These individuals are willing to invest time and resources in themselves and their businesses. They are not just looking for quick fixes but are genuinely interested in partnering to discover and leverage the art of the possible. They seek to expand their capabilities, increase profits, and achieve a substantial return on investment.
