I keep my creativity alive for many reasons, but the major one is because I am an artist. Since age 5, I loved drawing, painting, and even sculpting. I got a scholarship to go to an art school, and loved learning new crafts and skills and enjoyed mix media art. I have a history with mainly photorealism fine art in oil paintings, drawings and sculptures. Read More>>

I think art as a result and a great way of facing life, so the most important for me is to be connected with how we inhabit reality. I find interesting to observe the ways each of us deal with everyday life in order to imagine new ways of living in a world getting more and more difficult. I find it attractive to listen to different people talking about their lives and connect with their stories, their choices, and how they overcome adversity.  Read More>>

Creativity is what keeps me going, especially with everything I deal with daily. Living with multiple chronic illnesses and disabilities, like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, hyperadrenergic POTS, MCAS, and many others, means I’m constantly adapting. Pain, fatigue, brain fog, and other symptoms make it hard to function, but creativity is something I always find a way to hold onto. Read More>>

Movies, books, live theatre and music all help keep my creativity alive and well. A lot of my work as a filmmaker and actor are also influenced by the work I did as a novelist. The first novels I wrote were called the Galadria Trilogy. The first book, Galadria: Peter Huddleston & The Rites of Passage, introduced readers to a lonely boy named Peter, who discovered that he was the heir to the throne of a politically unstable realm called Galadria.  Read More>>

I am highly inspired to keep my creativity alive in a way that suits me. When I was younger, I always watched fashion-related shows, even cartoons about fashion, like Littlest Pet Shop. Because of this, I have always wanted to create outfits through thrifting or take high-quality photographs for friends and family. Read More>>

I keep an open mind and a sense of wonder. Inspiration can come in any form, from the way a sunset splashes colors across the sky to the way a lyric from a song can make you feel. Expressing yourself through art for yourself or for someone else can bring a sense of fulfillment and purpose that so many spend years searching for. I get to put a price of myself into every project that I take on. Although my art is not just for me I find that I am influenced and inspired by so many others. From my clients to the artists that came before me. Read More>>

Creativity is what keeps me alive. It’s been in my bones since I was a child and is still my way of navigating life. From music, dance, the designs in my cornrows, to the beads I adorned my braids with, creativity has always been there. It’s helped me through insecurities, encouraged me to explore and reinvent myself throughout the years.  Read More>>

I keep my creativity alive by looking at familiar things in an unfamiliar way. In our daily lives, we often overlook or take things for granted. For example, since moving to France, I’ve been regularly making video calls with friends and family. During these calls, we ask simple, routine questions like ‘How’s the weather?’ or ‘What did you eat today?’ These questions aren’t particularly important, but we ask them over and over, and I began to focus on how naturally we repeat them.  Read More>>

I keep my creativity alive by divorcing all of my creative practices from result. This maybe isn’t the best career-focused method, but thanks to this I can write, draw, play music, whatever with my whole self. If it develops, great, if I hit roadblocks, I manage them without the high stakes that used to drive me once upon a time. Read More>>

I try to keep evolving and have never been content in repeating myself. So many times, I see artists who have been successful at one singular way of working, and they just continue their entire career doing that one singular thing. While I can understand the appeal, I also like to be challenged. So if I become too comfortable and the art-making becomes too easy or rote, I make changes. Read More>>

As an author, keeping my creativity alive is essential. Luckily, inspiration can come from anywhere—other books, TV shows, movies, video games, etc. Even simply watching people makes for excellent inspiration. I have a Scrivener file with all of my story ideas, and I just let it continue to grow. Regularly reading is also highly important for me. Not only does it teach my mind how to write better, but it also can serve as a source of creativity, helping to unlock part of a manuscript where I’m stuck. Read More>>

For me, there has to be a certain amount of give and take when it comes to being creative. You know, I grew up around farms, and sometimes you gotta let a field lie fallow for a while. If you’re constantly be expending and producing, you’re gonna need to recover and let those nutrients return. When I fail to do that, it’s easy to feel creatively spent. Read More>>

I keep my creativity alive by staying connected to things that inspire me, by seeking new inspirations when the old ones have dried up, and by creating not only big projects I plan to share with the world, but things just for me, just for fun, just to stretch my creative muscles more often. I enjoy taking breaks from creating to just consume art sometimes + doing things like puzzles/video games that allow me to be creative in ways different than I am usually. I’m even inspired by connecting with my inner child, reminding myself where my creativity comes from and reiterating the importance of using it. Read More>>

Being creative is one of my favorite attributes and it has been envied by others. As a child growing up, I had a love for color, being outside, art, reading books, dancing and music. A combination of all these things evoked my creativity and allowed me to use it in many ways throughout my life. When I was little, I always found myself drawing pictures of a house with a sun shining bright and an apple tree growing in the front yard with pretty flowers. Read More>>

As a filmmaker, I deeply enjoy the process of creation. It feels akin to nurturing life—transforming something from nothing. This journey is filled with challenges to overcome and achievements to celebrate, all of which contribute to continuous personal and artistic growth.

For filmmakers, maintaining creativity is as essential as breathing. I sustain my creativity through observation, as a keen sense of perception is crucial for any storyteller. Films are rooted in life, and only by capturing the essence of reality can we create stories that resonate with everyday audiences. Observing ordinary people is the key to unlocking creativity. Like everyone else, I definitely experience burnout, even with my passions. To keep my creativity going, I find it important to step outside my usual routine—whether that’s traveling, meeting new people, or exposing myself to different perspectives. Pushing myself beyond my comfort zone is key. Without experiencing new things and connecting with fresh emotions, it’s difficult to grow as a songwriter and express deeper feelings. Taking the time to explore and reflect helps me to find those emotions within myself and bring them to my music. Read More>>

Growing up and through college, I loved expressing myself through art and music. My creative pursuits mostly fell away when I went to medical school, completed residency and fellowship, and became a mom to twins. My life felt too full, and I didn’t make space for my interests. Experiencing burnout at work, and a great deal of self-reflection, I realized how little space there was for me in my life after giving all my time and energy to others. At that point, I decided to be more intentional with my time and energy and refocus on myself. Read More>>
