Almost everything that’s changed the world in a positive way has been an unreasonable idea. It’s unreasonable, until it’s commons sense. That’s how change happens and so in order to make a difference in the world, it’s incredibly important to be able to ignore the naysayers. Some of the best and brightest from our community share their stories and advice below.

I always take their hate comments as a challenge. I say to myself: ” ok, you haven’t seen ¼ of the capability that I have to do X thing.” If You have a hater that it’s very close to you, you will get hurt but then you will heal and that will make you a more stronger and persistent person. I persist by standing tall, with a clear vision of who I am, and I know my worth. I acquired a warrior spirit and an unbroken survivor’s soul when I went through my battle with triple negative breast cancer. If cancer could not put out my fire nor can a hater/nay-sayer either. My spirit does not allow haters/nay-sayers to dictate anything about me, or even think that they can put fear into any of my plans. Read more>>

I believe that it’s important to get to know yourself well. Typically we can be our own worst enemy so we need to learn to speak to ourselves with grace. Once there is the development of a strong sense of self, the haters become meaningless. Who cares if someone tells you that you can’t do something? As long as you remind yourself daily that a strong vision and hard work will help you acomplish your goals, than anything really is possible. I’ve always had in mind that chasing your dreams and accomplishing big things will bring detractors and people who doubt you along the way. That is the inevitable price of success and aiming to be different. I have also always had the mindset to use the hate and the doubts as fuel to become a better version of myself and to achieve the objective. It is of course easier said than done, but discipline and being faithful to your mindset has been fundamental to stay focused and get through the challenge of doubt. Read more>>

I believe if you are going to write, write what you love. I love angels and I have always had an interest in paranormal themed subjects so pairing the two together just made sense, to me. I write in the unique genre, of angel paranormal romance yet my books are steamy which makes them vastly different from YA and, somehow, controversial. Not a lot of authors take on this “sub-genre” and, actually, I am pretty proud of writing in a “different,” distinctive category of paranormal romance. Read more>>

Persisting despite the haters and naysayers has always been about staying true to my vision and values. When I founded Utopia Modern Salon Suites, I was driven by a desire to create a community-focused space where beauty professionals could thrive. I knew there would be challenges and skeptics, but I focused on the positive impact we could have on our tenants and clients. Read more>>
