What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?

We’ve been working on our publication and platform for almost a decade because we deeply believe that the world will be a far more empathetic and collaborative place if we all had the ability to know each other’s stories. The past decade has brought unimaginable challenges along the way, but we persevere because we believe this is mission worth never giving up on. We often are inspired by the folks we’ve featured and their commitment to their respective missions and so we asked some of them to talk to us about this very topic and have share some responses below.

One of my most profound commitments is the ongoing fight for gender equality. I am confident that women must engage in relentlessly challenging biases and advocating for systemic change. I was recently honored to spend time in France at the artist’s residency, Chateau Pompadour. This is the home of a neo-feminist artist’s laboratory founded by the dedicated and vibrant artist, Michaela Spiegel. Read More>>

I’m committed to building The Jennifer Experience Assisted Living Homes—spaces designed for Black and Brown seniors who deserve to age with dignity, safety, and cultural belonging. This isn’t just a project; it’s personal legacy work. I was raised by elders whose wisdom and resilience built the foundation I stand on. Read More>>

That’s an easy one, my ambitions. So many will tell you why you won’t make it, why you shouldn’t make it. Very little will ever wish you the best in your endeavors and honestly, it’s not their job to. This in my opinion can come from two things. One… they simply care about you and want the best. I’m committed to helping reduce — and ultimately eliminate — mental suffering by showing people that it’s optional. The way we think and the programs we carry in our subconscious mind determine whether we live in worry or in joy. By cultivating positive thoughts and attitudes, and by releasing negative patterns, we can create a more fulfilling existence. Read More>>

I’m committed to honesty in storytelling — no matter the medium or how long it takes. Whether it’s a commercial, a music video, or a film, I’m chasing that fleeting, real moment that actually lands with people. It’s not about polish or spectacle; it’s about catching something human before it slips away. Read More>>

I hold fast to the belief that if we want to change the world, we first have to look in the mirror. It’s too easy to point at the “other” and name their flaws, their darkness. Read More>>

If I have learned one thing about life from being an artist, it is that you must collect moments of pure bliss along the way to fill your cup of inspiration. You cannot be so busy and focused on the output of creating that you don’t enjoy the journey and the whole process. Read More>>

I call myself a pragmatic optimist. I think that’s reflected in my work as well, a sense of optimism, of wonder, while not being blind to the challenges at hand. It’s part of practicing joy. Sci-fi or horror, even fantasy, doesn’t have to exist in a bubble. I still think the best of genre is informed by how it connects to our reality. Read More>>

I once read a bit that Tom Waits wrote for the Rolling Stone Millennium Special I believe, called ‘Sage Advice For The Class Of 2000’. He writes ‘Be devoted to the unification of the diverse aspects of yourself’. That’s something I believe in and a project I work on every day for the rest of my time I’m sure. Read More>>

The project I’m fully committed to — no matter how long it takes — is developing our new commercial wood shop location in Western North Carolina as a second site for our business. My wife and I recently purchased the property, and we envision it evolving into a place where fellow woodworkers come to visit and clients come and learn while selecting their wood slabs. I am deeply committed to the belief that art has the transformative power to promote the common good, improve people’s lives, and to make the world a better place. Sacred art has the unique opportunity of bringing the viewer into a closer relationship with God. In June 2025, one of my artworks was permanently installed at St. Read More>>

That’s also a beautiful question, and the belief that I am committed to, no matter how long it takes, is to hear the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, welcome, get in, enjoy” from Jesus Christ Himself. In a world filled with the endless pursuit of followers and likes on a screen, this is the ultimate ‘like’ and ‘thumbs up’ that truly matters. Read More>>

My greatest challenge—and greatest responsibility—has always been myself. No matter what, I have to continue developing and loving who I am. It’s a lifelong journey. Neither money nor fame can teach self-love; it requires practice, patience, and kindness. At the end of the day, no one else can define me—I am the only one who can be me. Read More>>

I am committed to helping women reclaim pleasure not just sexual pleasure, but the fullness of experiencing pleasure in everyday life. Because in reality, a life without pleasure is a life of pain, discomfort, sadness, disconnection and DIS-pleasure. One of the most alarming truths I’ve uncovered is that the word “pleasure” itself is censored on social media… unless it refers to men. Read More>>
