Perspectives on Staying Creative

We’re beyond fortunate to have built a community of some of the most creative artists, professionals, and entrepreneurs in the world and one of the most important questions we ask them is around keeping one’s creativity alive. Below, we’ve highlighted some of those responses.

I keep my creativity alive by constantly surrounding myself with inspiration—whether it’s design, architecture, art, or even random conversations with people from different backgrounds. I make it a point to explore things outside my field too—music, philosophy, or even memes sometimes spark new ideas. Read More>>

I know I speak for all of us when I say that music is our creative outlet and means of self expression. Personally, I keep my creativity alive by being active in many hobbies. By dreaming, reading and traveling.

I have dreams almost every night since little, so I write them down as the lake of inspiration. It’s magical to read words written by me that I don’t even remember, and most of them are crazy.

Busy and exciting travels are no good for my creativity cause i’m not a very energetic person, but every pause in the travel, such as sitting in the train, wandering in a desolate small town or hiking in somewhere quiet and wild, ideas thrive. Read More>>

By pushing through the dull and boring. In a lot of creative industries such as music or film there’s a process in which you have parts you really enjoy such as Filming fight scenes or laying down vocal tracks. There are also times where you have to do the boring and dull to make your product great. You have to mix and master music though a tedious process whenever you get the final product of whatever you’re doing it sparks more creativity. That being said always push through the dull and boring! Read More>>

For me, creativity comes from staying attentive to everyday details. Walking through the streets of New York or commuting on the subway, I often find inspiration in the way information is presented — from typography and signage to graphic patterns that appear in unexpected places.

I also make space for regular input. I spend time browsing the work of illustrators and design studios to stay connected with what others are creating. When I feel stuck, I focus on increasing my exposure to related projects or visual references. I believe that quantity leads to quality — that insights often emerge after a certain level of input and processing. Read More>>

I keep my creativity alive through persistence and incremental progress toward my goals.
Generating fresh concepts for short films and Cinematic Live Performances can be challenging, but I’ve learned that creativity thrives on discipline and consistency. Each day, I dedicate a few hours to brainstorming ideas and an additional hour at the gym refining choreography and movement. Over time, I began associating every source of information—experiences, observations, and inspirations—to my acts, allowing ideas to develop organically. While some days feel directionless, sticking to this routine has helped me shape compelling stories with choreography that truly resonates. Read More>>

Keeping my creativity alive is one of the main objectives on my agenda. Many people may have a skill, or even a talent, but the creativity is what keeps the world wanting to know MORE. When I’m in my creative process and thoughts, the first thing that comes to mind is “What could I do to make me stand out?” “What can I do that everybody isn’t doing?”. Once I got the answer to that, I automatically started to think, grow, & develop outside the box. I wasn’t scared to do what others were scared to and that’s what made me stand out with my creativity & insanely bright ideas. You have to fully trust yourself and GOD, you have to learn yourself and make your own personal Character and just have fun with it. Just keep in mind that it all has to make sense! Read More>>

I love doing a myriad creative tasks, but nothing inspires me more creatively than surrounding myself with artistic peers and friends. Take the time to join open model sessions, talk deeply with artists who are better than you- and also vastly different than you! Nothing brings a creative spirit more alive than others who are also driven passionately by their creative endeavors. Also, read. Read everything you can get your hands on. Collect books for the sake of their opinions and insight even if you don’t necessarily agree with it. Read More>>

As a singer, actress, and dancer, I keep my creativity the main focus of each and every day in a variety of ways, but I have found that the source of my creativity is oftentimes nature. I prioritize long walks and hikes in forests, time in gardens. There is an open corn field next to my house, and I spend some time walking through it everyday. Read More>>

I keep creativity alive by persisting each day and never giving up. Every day brings new opportunities and some days are more inspiring than others but I just take it as it comes and do as much as I can in the moment. I expose myself to as much positivity as possible to keep new and creative ideas coming. Read More>>

The number one way I keep my creativity alive is by going out and watching art. Whether it is a musical, a play, a concert, a cabaret, a dance show, an AMDA showcase, or even a DJ set, all art is valid and fuels me to create my own. I like to sit back, relax, and let art take me for a ride, with no judgement or preconceived opinions. For however long the ride is, the artists have their hands on the wheel and I am just there to take it in. When it is done, the processing, reflecting, and conversing makes my brain and heart spiral into a million thoughts that light a fire under my own art. Read More>>

I keep my creativity alive by constantly doing the things that light me up: makeup, dance, and storytelling. Makeup isn’t just my job—it’s my canvas, my way of bringing art into everyday life. Each face tells a different story, and I get to help people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.

Dance keeps me playful and connected to my body. It reminds me not to take things too seriously and to stay in tune with joy. And then there’s Mannie the Dancing Mammoth—my children’s book project that combines all the fun, whimsy, and movement I love. Mannie has helped me tap into my inner child and dream even bigger. Being in a creative industry such as photography means that I’m always striving to keep what I capture fresh, new and invigorating (for the client, but also for myself!) as to avoid burnout or stale work. I’m fortunate to do most of my photography outside in nature, which is the short and sweet answer to this question. I frequently turn to the natural world to inspire me. Read More>>

I keep my creativity alive by observing the people and things around me. There’s something inspiring about watching how others move, interact, and express themselves—it sparks ideas and helps me see the world from different perspectives. Whether it’s a stranger’s unique outfit, a random conversation I overhear, or the way sunlight hits a building just right, these little details fuel my imagination.
